Sorry, me again from Egypt! Does anyone know if you can fill out the FAFSA form without applying for financial aid through a school? In other words, we are too wealthy to get financial aid from a college, but not wealthy enough to pay for college out of pocket (we are U.S. citizens living abroad, not internationals.) So can we fill out the FAFSA in order to get a federal Parent (PLUS) loan, or is that only for those with a low enough EFC that they qualify for aid from schools and then supplement that with the PLUS loan?

Complete the FAFSA anyway. This will get your student eligibility for the Staffords (better deal than the PLUS) and your opportunity for the PLUS if offered.

And make sure you complete the college forms as well. You never know what may pop up.
