Fafsa

Lets say, I’ve made corrections on my Fin. Aid. about two days ago. I log on to my college online account today and I view my financial aid status and it says, I’ve been “rejected”. Does this mean even if I did the corrections that I’m not getting any Fin. Aid? Im confused because after I did my corrections it said I was getting money (an estimate).

Which school year is this for? Will you be starting college in the fall of 2013? If so you can’t start filling out FAFSA until 1/1/13. The currently available FAFSA is for the fall 2012-spring 2013 school year.

If your situation is something else, you will need to post more details about what year you are in college, what kind of corrections you made etc.

This is for Sping 2013. The corrections I believe was about legal guardianship, and I am 23. I’m just confused to why I got rejected when I had an estimate amount of what they said I was going to receive.

Calling the school and asking is the best way to get the definitive answer but a change to something about legal guardianship could have a huge impact on finaid. Why do you say you believe that was the change, don’t you know? If you want to post more details about the nature of the change perhaps someone could give informed thoughts about the impact of the change but only the school will know for sure.

Did you indicate on your FAFSA that you were in legal guardianship to the age of 18? If so, were you??

My bet is that you originally said you were in guardianship, and your realized that you were not … so you corrected your FAFSA. If that was the case, you would then have needed to add parent info AND a parent PIN. What often happens is students add the parent info but do not have a parent sign with their own PIN. This causes the FAFSA to reject. Or they change the answer about guardianship to no, but they don’t add parent info … again, this will cause the FAFSA to reject.

Go to www.fafsa.gov. Look at your FAFSA. Is it rejected? Are there comments telling you why?
