Fafsa

I am trying to fill out my fafsa and I am trying to add the college I want to go to which is Carrington college in Pomona LA and it doesn’t show up!

Either ask the school for its FAFSA ID number (it may be on the website) or check to see if it participates in FAFSA and government grant and lending programs. Not all schools do.

edit: it took two seconds to google - 009748

Carrington College is a network of for-profit private colleges. Their website doesn’t show a Louisiana location; everything is in Texas and to the west, mostly California. Is the Pomona location new? The school participates in the Federal student loan program, so contact the school and ask them what their school FAFSA code is for the location where you want to enroll.

That’s for the Sacramento, CA location.

So in your first post, LA means Los Angeles and not Louisiana, right?

Several branches have the same code:

If it’s a for profit school you should rethink attending.

Yup, noticed that after I stopped looking for a branch in Louisiana.

I used that code and it gives me the same college for Sacramento though

Yes Los Angeles

Why do you want to go to a for-profit school?

How will you pay for it?

What’s your major?

What does the school cost per year?

Carrington is part of DeVry Education Group which is involved in controversy and lawsuits:

[Quote=wikipedia]
The for-profit education industry has been the subject of hearings by the United States Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions. Specifically with regard to DeVry Inc., the Committee found that over half of the students who enrolled at DeVry in 2008-2009 withdrew by mid-2010. DeVry spends more on marketing than on student instruction. Approximately 80% of DeVry’s revenue is Federal education funds.

As of 2013, DeVry Inc. is under investigation by the Attorneys General of the states of Illinois and Massachusetts.[9][10]

A lawsuit has been filed against DeVry alleging deceptive recruiting practices in violation of federal law.[11]

In January 2016, The Federal Trade Commission filed a lawsuit against DeVry Education Group alleging false or misleading advertising. A class action lawsuit was also filed against DeVry Group in US District Court, Northern District of California claiming breaches of contract, good faith and fair dealing, violations of the California Unfair Trade Practices Act, the California False Advertising Act and the California Consumer Legal Remedies Act, and negligent misrepresentations. A confidential settlement was reached.

In May 2016, a shareholder class action lawsuit was filed against DeVry Group, in the US District Court, Northern District of Illinois. The plaintiffs claimed that defendants made false or misleading statements regarding DeVry University’s graduate employment rate and the earnings of DeVry University graduates relative to the graduates of other universities and colleges.

In June 2016, T’Lani Robinson and Robby Brown filed an arbitration demand with the American Arbitration Association, seeking relief for breach of contract, negligence, violation of the Illinois Uniform Deceptive Trade Practices Act, conversion, and unjust enrichment. [16]

Yes, the school obviously uses one central office for processing FAFSA, so 5-6 of its California locations use the same FAFSA code. If you don’t trust it, call the school and make sure or file the FAFSA and then call and make sure they got the information.
