Failed calc II TWICE, can i still transfer?

hey guys, i’m new here so anyways I’ve been going to a community college in ohio for the past year and a half. Prior to that I went to Baldwin Wallace college, its a highly respected school in the cleveland area, outside of that idk what its reputation is like. I went there on a baseballl “scholarship” (technically, D3 school can’t give athletic scholarships, but it was definitely a contributing factor for me)

so at my first year @BW I got a 2.9, not bad, but not too good either

last year @ CC i did awful. I failed Calc 2 twice (i know, i should have dropped arrgghh) and got a D in organic chem, but this year I’ve got all A’s for the first semester (15 credit hrs) and have all A’s this semester (18 credit hrs)

granted, im not taking as hard of classes, because i switched my major out of Engineering, but my GPA right now is somewhere around a 3.0 I want to transfer to either Miami OH, tOSU, or OU.

im leaning toward either OU or Miami OH, but I worried about failing calc 2 twice. Is that gonna be a killer? Like I said, for my major im looking at either philosophy, econ, english, communications or maybe a combination.

thanks guys

the scholarship only covered about $8000 of the the $30,000 tuition so it wasnt enough for me to stay (even though i would have liked to)

anyone? ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

As a native to the region (go Cavs ), Miami is definitely a bit of a reach. Ohio University will likely accept you if your GPA is higher than a 2.0-2.5. That’s most likely your best bet.

But question, failing two classes and getting a D in another = 3.0?

You need to meet with the transfer counselor at your CC, and talk with that person about your options. If Calculus and O Chem aren’t needed for your major, there probably won’t be any problem provided that the courses related to your major have good grades. You may be best off staying where you are until you have completed your AA. Usually an AA makes for a smoother transfer experience.
