Failed Course and Law School Chances

I failed a course my freshman year. But after retaking it, made and A and am about to graduate cum laud a year early with a 172 LSAT and I am only 20 years old. I’m also a member of a minority group, have plenty of leadership experience, i.e. usga senator, and have good reason for early poor performance, if you believe being diagnosed with hypertension and being hospitalized a good reason. Do I have a realistic chance at a top 50 school?

Yes.

You were hospitalized for hypertension? That must have been very high indeed.

Just focus on doing well in undergrad and the rest will eventually take care of itself. Keep in mind that even if your school has grade replacement, that both grades will be calculated in your law school gpa.

Also reconsider if graduating early will be in your best interest because you do have a failing class and and if you are lacking courses that will provide you the depth, breath, analytica skills needed to be successful in law schools.

Are you currently a sophomore or a junior? There seems to be a bit of a disconnect because on 8/17/07 you wrote:
