Failing a Class?

So I failed a semester of World History AP but I passed both semesters of US history. (I’m a junior right now so those are the only history classes I was able to take so far) One of the requirements for Cal State Long Beach was 1 year of history. Will they count the failed semester for WHAP even though I passed a year with US History? If they only require one year, can they disregard my grades for WHAP and use the ones for my US History class instead?

hEY THERE! I am a senior in H.S and just applied to 8 UCs and 6 CSUs (even CSULB). I want to reiterate that college nowadays don’t go for the bare minimum of their requirements. Since you did pass a year of US history, the requirement for history for CSU is checked off, however, the failing grade will be on your transcript unless you retake the semester (summer school) to fix that to a passing grade! PLEASE REMEMBER! Colleges nowadays are getting VERY competitive! Don’t go for the bare minimum requirements! It’s even a less likely chance to be admitted to a college if they even see a failing grade on a transcript (or even a free period on your senior schedule). Go talk to your counselor. GOOD LUCK!

Cal States such as CSULB use only 10-11th a-g course grades in their GPA calculation, so if you took AP WH in 10th grade, you will have to report these grades and they heavily impact your GPA especially for a competitive CSU like Long Beach.

As stated above ^^^, you can repeat the class and the new grade will replace the old grade on your transcript and GPA calculation so if you do not repeat, your WHAP grades will show up on your transcript, have to be reported on your application and no CSU will disregard that grade.

Yes, you have passed the minimum 1 year of History but as @orionary stated, top Cal States like Long Beach require you go above and beyond the minimum to have the best chances.

Thanks for your help! Do you know if it is possible to take an AP class like World History during the summer? Or does it depend on the school?

Retaking an AP class during the summer will depend upon your school. You could try an on-line course that is CSU/UC approved. See link fir approved classes:
