<p>Not clear whether you just want the catharsis of "venting" or are seeking a response.
Yes, GPA is important. However, if he is a top flight student in everything else, many schools will appreciate that not everyone's good at foreign languages.
Is he an A student in his other subjects? Does he take the most challenging courses in them? Are his test scores and ECs strong? If the answers to all these questions are affirmative, I think he'll have a good shot at getting schools to look past sub-par grades in foreign language.</p>
