I’m applying for scholarships via a website, and there is a preliminary application to fill out before you can view any of the scholarship requirements or essays. One of the things they ask is for your cummulative GPA on a 4.0 scale. It specifically says that the GPA MUST include Fall 2007 grades. My school doesn’t have semester grades; only final grades (the average of quarters 1,2,3,4 and the final exam) are on the transcript and are included in the GPA. My GPA that is reported to colleges was finalized at the end of junior year. The application emphasizes the importance of a correct GPA. I don’t understand what I’m supposed to do? I asked my guidance office- they said the computer system cannot include my “Fall 2007” grades because one quarter cannot equal one year… the computer system just won’t do it. Plus, even if we did have semester grades, the semester isn’t even over untill the end of January. I don’t think this is an unsual grading policy.

I would love to include my first quarter grades… they were great and would definitely boost my GPA. I don’t want to be at a disadvantage, but I also don’t want to include a GPA that isn’t correct or doesn’t mean the requirements. What do I do? I emailed them last thursday but I’ve gotten no answer, and I’d really like to start looking at some of the scholarship applications (some have deadlines for next week).
