Fall 2012 Transfer Application Process

Hey guys -

So I'm applying for transfer admission as a Sociology major for Fall 2012, and Oxy is my number 1 choice.

I'm getting my A.A in Interdisciplinary Studies with an Emphasis in Social Sciences this semester from a community college, and currently have a 3.53 GPA without Spring 2012 grades.

I interviewed a few weeks ago and it went extremely well! Anyone want to take a guess at my chance for admission?

I have a few questions about applying - the deadline for the application is March 15th. Are all of the Common Application Forms (Such as Teacher Evaluation, College Official's Report, Graded Writing Sample Etc.) and transcripts also due by that date? Or can I submit them before/after my application?

For my graded writing sample, I was going to submit a handwritten Bluebook essay exam with a seperate teacher comments form. Does that seem appropriate?

Hey Inatcup, a couple things:

I like your username

I am sorry but I have no idea how to answer the rest of your questions. But why not take a crack at them:

a) I applied straight out of high school via the Common App and I had everything that I was responsible for in by that date. I made a good faith effort to have the transcript and the teacher recommendations in by then, but to be entirely honest I have no idea when they actually arrived at the admissions office. So, maybe you should try and get them in by that deadline.

b) I have no idea what is and is not an appropriate writing sample. I think you should call the admissions office.

Good luck!

Thank you -

I called the admissions office yesterday and they said that the Common Application itself is due on the deadline, but the forms and transcripts can be sent either before or after that date. The catch is that your application is not looked at and considered complete until everything is submitted. FYI for future applicants!
