My son has not heard one way or the other- anyone else still waiting for notification?

I would have your son login into the UCSB portal to check his admission status. The majority, if not all of the decisions were released yesterday after 3pm pacific.

If your son applied to be a freshmen, the decision should be on the front page once you log into the portal.

If he applied to transfer, then I believe he may be notified any time up to may 1st.

Thank you. He logged in and was accepted as an Undeclared Major- he applied for a Mechanical Engineering major. I’m guessing ME was impacted so they offered him undeclared. I wonder what his odds would be to get into engineering dept after first year undeclared? Seems like it’s a way to add time onto college…ugh

If you read through the other posts on here you will see that some people have already contacted UCSB and asked about a major change to Engineering, and that they were told there is very little to no chance of that happening due to the high requirements and high demand for it. It is very difficult, if not impossible, to get into the engineering dept. later on if you werent accepted into it right away. so I reckon if your son really wants to do ME he should attend another school where he got in for that major.

Yes cgsw23 I agree. UCM really wants him offering tremendous merit $$$$$ in addition to nau offering similar $$$$$. I think he would be foolish to choose ucsb…
