Fall 2014 Transfer Thread

I applied as an international transfer student to EE & entry-level CS.
The admission office said decisions should be posted by mid-May.
My status now is “complete”.
Has anyone(I mean international transfers) got accepted or rejected already?

Good luck to everyone!

@DeePrep‌ where did you see that message? I already took 2 Calc classes at my college and the other prerequisites, I hope. I am not seeing anything on my status. I really hope to hear back from them soon :frowning:
May I know what’s your current status like GPA etc?

@iamAE86‌ We are applying exactly the same major, EE & CS. It seems like we still need to wait two more weeks to get decisions.
My status is “Attention: Your file is in review”. It has been like that for a long time.

@Hurrycan I applied to Cockrell for EE and I am in the same boat as you. “Your application for admission is in review. We have all the items we need to make your admission decision. As soon as your decision is made, it will be posted on this page, and you will be notified by mail.”

@natand In the admission tab, beneath where it states that my application is under review.

Currently I’m at 4.0 after completing 48 hours. I’m currently enrolled in 14 hours, and believe I will finish with a 4.0 this semester. I’m at ACC, work 30 hours a week as well. Not really involved in my two years at ACC because of how much I work. In high school, I played three years of football and baseball at the varsity level. Several clubs. Probably roughly 100 hours of community service. Submitted two letters of recommendation, one from my GM at work, and one from my football coach in high school.

Okay guys, just did finals for the spring and I’m about to send in final transcript.
Here are my stats:
Transfer GPA: 3.48
Cumulative GPA: 3.5
COLA International Studies and Undeclared
2 good LOR
Good essays
Resume: Strong. honors college, lots of leadership in high school, state and national debate qualifier, accepted into Urban Educators program this summer, etc.

I know my GPA is killing me but can anyone tell me if you think I have a decent chance?

Hey guys,

I recently got rejected into Cockrell for ChemEng. Im on my 2nd year of college (4th semester) so i believe this is one of my last chances to transfer.

Main problem was my GPA, its not that great, (3.2), but it has drastically improved, and my math courses are really high (100’s and 95’s), which i believe is crucial for Cockrell school. Should i mention this in my appeal?

Any deadlines on appealing, by the way?

@therealZTEE Let’s wait and pray.

Ended my spring semester today
32 hours Cumulative GPA 3.72
2 decent essays
6 LORS from 4 college professors that I made great connections with and received an A in their class. 2 High School teachers that I made great connections with
298 community service hours
how does this look for COLA psychology(1st choice) UGS(2nd choice)

@txgirl9457 You stand a great chance! Definitely you will get in.

Hey what’s the difference between cumulative and transfer GPA?

Cumulative GPA is the GPA of all college coursework taken, regardless of which uni or CC the coursework was taken at, and transfer GPA is the GPA of the courses that UT actually accepts at the university. I hope that made sense :-*

hello guys! should i make my first choice CNS undeclared or CNS biology. which will give me a better chance. I have a 3.6 gpa but I have calculus I credit. My second choice is cola undeclared.

I also have another question. I already applied for fall 2014, (still awaiting decision) but if I do get admitted, I have just found out that I cannot attend UT until another semester due to some personal circumstances. In this case, how does it work? Do I hafta reapply? I am guessing I probably do but my app would probably b exactly the same. My essay would be exactly the same because my statement of purpose will not change because I have a pretty solid statement of purpose. Also, because I “reject” them this semster, will that make it bad in their eyes so they will reject me when I apply again?

@saammmaay‌ several schools allow students that have been admitted to defer their admission for a next semester for whatever reason…not sure if UT does that you should call and ask.

My experience, is that they will not defer your enrollment. If you skip a long semester, then you have to re-apply, although I am not sure if that is true for a returning student that might be more of a re-registering act. In your situation, more than likely it would be considered re-applying. That being said, on the application if I am not mistaken you can designate which semester you want to be considered eligible for, but they may only table your application. In that case, it’s your first in line. However, they will ask you for any information which might have changed your status, such as taking additional courses, or anything that might have changed your financial situation.

Has anyone who was accepted into COLA get a letter in the mail about the humanities program? It says its an interdisciplinary honors program, but besides that the letter was kind of confusing. Does anyone know more about it?

How do we submit our final transcript? Do we have to mail it or can we just send an unofficial one?

Ugh I messed up again this semester :frowning: I’m considering switching majors to Gov/Undeclared but I think I’ll probably have to reapply next semester.

@Korsgaard The most basic way is to purchase an official transcript from your college and mail it to UT. I don’t know if your college have an electronic transcript service but here at Houston Community College they have that. They let you order official transcript and send it directly to UT, all electronically so you don’t have to go the post office or anything. I remember using that service when I submit my transfer application and UT processed it within a few hours.

Finally we are in the week of mid May.
