Fall 2014 Transfer Thread

There should be an online system that sends your transcript to wherever you need it sent to, at Lone Star that’s how they do it. How did you send your transcript for your application?

I was accepted to COLA undeclared! AHHHH! :)

@jwood12 what are your stats?

@txgirl9457‌
GPA 3.67
53 hours
All basic pre prerequisite classes
No CALC
few extracurricular
Good job experience
No letters of recommendation

So I’m an in-state resident who attended a private school OOS. I ended my first year with a 3.49 GPA and am trying to get into COLA, which I know is kind of low, but I took all 200 level classes both semesters that were all towards my major. I was also incredibly involved on campus, worked 20+ hours/week, had recommendation, two solid essays and have some AP scores that will transfer over. My question is - do I stand a chance with a lowish GPA, even though it was all B+'s and A-'s in some pretty competitive upper-level classes? Does UT even care that they wee all 200 level as a freshman? I’m about to submit my transcript but I’m really nervous. Either way I will be in Austin since I got into co-op housing earlier but I’d rather not spend another semester at a school that’s not UT…

@chattycathy94‌ Im in that same boat! My cumulative GPA is a 3.5 but my honors clAsses (which were really hard) dont transfer so I have a 3.48… And other than GPA my other factors are pretty good. I have seen some people get into COLA with 3.4’s with stats like ours and if I don’t get in, I’m still living in Austin cause of housing too. Good luck!

@iamAE86 same here. I am international student applied EE and AE. I guess EE is very competitive this year. The admission decision could be made very late. My status is “your file is in review”. And I have 3.83 GPA, decent papers and many recommendations. I don’t see a point why UT delay admitting me. So I guess we just have to wait.Long and painful wait though.

Sent my final spring 2014 transcript a couple days ago and my school says it’s been delivered, is there anywhere to check when/if UT has received it?

@golfing7861 I think a change will be made on your UT my status page when they receive it!

I’ve heard some pretty unpleasant things about the way Coordinated Admissions Transfers are treated… Can anyone give me insight as to how they’re actually treated? Does it really make a difference at all? I just finished my CAP year at UTSA and am transferring into COLA as a foreign language major, if the college makes any difference in treatment.

@LordOfTheFail‌ In the same boat over here, but with COE.

@LordOfTheFail‌ are you referring to the overall transfer transition process, or a certain committee?

Do we take the ALEKS or any other placement exams as transfers at orientation??

@iGottaStrive I am about to pay the deposit for U of Maryland, but I will go to UT if I am admitted. Good luck!

@lovechickfila‌ yes you take placement tests during your orientation, be sure to sign up for them so you don’t miss out!

I actually saw on the facebook page for transfer students, a couple new student services employees who said placement tests are not required for transfers. I would make sure, but I don’t think it’s required.

@DeeGeeErbear Where do we sign up for them? I didn’t see anything about it on mystatus.

@iGottaStrive‌ @iamAE86‌
I called admission yesterday. They told me that they will release decisions next week. The wait will end soon.

@Hurrycan Do I need send them final transcript? Or do I wait until I am actrually admitted?

@lovechickfila‌ I think they are offered for anyone who attends the orientation, you just attend certain sessions during the orientation to take them. I would double check and call UT just to doublecheck. I myself did not need any placement tests done
