@Hurrycan OMG are you serious? I really need to give my decision to some other schools that have accepted me and start looking for housing. This waiting is seriously killing me ARGH

Did anyone apply for Business Honors Program?

OMG
I just opened UTDirect and I saw this: You’ve been admitted to Unspecified Business (transfer) in the Red McCombs School of Business for the Fall 2014 semester.

I am so thrilled!!

Okay I’m kinda freaking out. I submitted my final transcript and UT has received it but on mystatus it still says my application is complete except the required 30 hours. I rechecked all my courses on the UT Credit check and they are all transferable. Whats going on?

Rejected with 3.94 GPA.

I really wanted to go there even though I have been accepted to UC Berkeley. I think God has shown me His way then. Congratulation guys, good luck at UT Austin!

@DaBaDee

Berkeley is great. Good luck there!

Sometimes the MyStatus doesn’t update to in review, it doesn’t mean anything!!

@natand

Does @Hurrycan talk about international transfers only?
Many people reported their result this week.

When they said “release decisions”, it could be starting to release… I guess

@DeeGeeErbear so I shouldn’t be worried and I don’t need to email admissions?

Just been told my friend (international transfer) got rejected at UT.

It’s true they are releasing decisions.

Good luck to everyone!

@DaBaDee what is your major? what did you apply to Austin and Berkeley?

@Dabadee what were your stats? shocked that they would deny someone with that high of a GPA…

@natand congrats! Do you mind sharing your stats?

@Stachen

I’m basically in the same boat as you, although this is the end of my first year in college. I was rejected from EE with a 3.36. I believe they just looked at my GPA and automatically denied me without giving my application a thorough look. After this semester, my GPA is now a 3.61. I got AP credit for Calc I and an A in Calc II. I also received an A in Engineering Physics I and am taking Engineering Physics II this summer, which I should receive an A in, increasing my GPA to around a 3.66. I am appealing with my new GPA and to emphasize to them the fact that my engineering team and I received 4th place in Texas at the TEAMS engineering competition last year and also qualified for nationals (Did not attend). I also mentioned that I took engineering classes in high school that have prepared me for EE, so I’m already familiar with the basics.

For your appeal, talk about your strengths, such as math and anything else that shows off your qualifications for engineering. Talk about your GPA improvement and make sure your appeal sounds professional.

I dont know anything about deadlines, but send it in quick so that they can make your decision before all the spots are filled up. Let’s hope we both get in!

Okay, so things aren’t looking too good for me and I am well aware. From what I’ve read, getting a 3.5 for COLA pretty much guarantees your admission. Unfortunately, after two semesters at a small private school, I ended up with a 3.33 cumulative. I went there originally for music, then switched to undeclared in the spring when I realized I wanted to pursue psychology (at UT). My reason for being undeclared is so I could continue getting pesky gen eds out of the way as those are more likely to transfer as well. I was, however in the Honors program there and it says so on my transcript as well as my resume. I was very involved in high school, 100+ hours of community service, National Honor Society, and I also am an Eagle Scout. Essays were very strong- had personal appeal and gave reasons for my interest in psychology. I am an excellent writer and hope this will influence them in the right direction. I have heard that COLA places a lot of emphasis on the writing skills of applicants. Also, two great letters of rec…not sure what to think. I know it’s possible with that GPA but it is unlikely…thoughts? If this doesn’t work out I’ll probably take online courses from the local community college and get up to about a 3.55 and then reapply for spring 2015

Also, I’d love for COLA applicants who have heard back from UT to post their stats and admissions decision to see what the trends are…thank you! Btw, there are so many smart people on this forum! Very well spoken and knowledgeable on a variety of UT related topics…I like.

@natand I believe that OOS students have a harder time getting accepted to UT, even the most qualified don’t get accepted as with your case.

@chuck616 what do you mean by OOS? Out of state? Because I am from California

@Pianoman911 I got into COLA undeclared with a 3.75, one rec letter, and no calculus.

Guys is there a deadline to send final spring semester transcripts?
