Fall 2014 Transfer Thread

@natand, yes UT is a lot more stringent with out-of-state applicants

@lovechikfila not too sure, but I would send it in as soon as your spring semester is over. The page says June 1 but I believe that is for students still waiting on a decision. My semester ended Thursday so I will send it in Monday.

http://bealonghorn.utexas.edu/transfer/admission/transcripts

Also, does anyone know how long it takes to get a housing offer to live on campus after you apply? I applied kind of late, but I have waited at least 2 weeks I believe. The housing tab still says that I will be notified when an offer is posted, but it’s the only thing I need to get figured out now and its a little stressful.

I’m kind of worried! My university still hasn’t put up all grades so I haven’t ordered my final transcript yet… And even when I do it’s going to take 3-5 days for them to send it. Should I order my transcript now? Or should I wait for the grades to be posted first?

I was Rejected this morning. Well, never expect that could happen.
My status: GPA 3.84 50+credit hrs. Good paper and three recommendation letters.
I guess whoever hasn’t received decision yet had very good chance because UT is releasing the rejected ones these days. btw, I applied to EE and AE.

Good luck everyone.

Hi guys, I just got admitted to Cockrell School of Engineering. How do you guys check how many credit were transferred from your old school?

Just got rejected.
Applied to EE and CS.
International transfer.
Didn’t receive an email. Check your MyStatus page!

Good luck everyone!

@Dolzoo‌, can you please share your stats?
@iamAE86‌, sorry to hear that. Can you please tell us your stats?

Anyone here still waiting on COLA with 30+ hours already?

Current college : University of North Texas
Current GPA : 3.9
College applied to : Engineering school / Liberal arts school
Major : Mechanical Engineering
2nd Major: Economics
Number of letters of Rec and who wrote them: One from my Calc professor

Do you think I have a chance to get in? I heard it’s very tough to get in to their engineering school.
Also, how long should I wait for their decisions? my application is just completed today after I sent my final transcript after this spring semester.

@Putnan Your stats look great. What classes have you taken and how many hours have you completed?

@Faith2017‌ I completed 31 hours in college and have 3 ap credits from high school. I took 7 general courses( English, Econ, Political Science, History, etc), Calculus I and II, and General Chemistry.

Sent my transcript on Tuesday UT just received it today. the real wait begins now! fingers crossed. STATS: 3.72 GPA 298 community service hours lots of extra curric. 6 letters of rec from professors that I received a’s in their course and a few hs teachers. Texas resident applied to cola psychology and ugs. chance me?

@rangers32 I’ve been waiting for housing as well for about 2 weeks

Hey guys,
Congrats for those who have gotten into UT and good luck to everyone still waiting.
If any of you guys are looking for housing next year and you are considering an apartment next year please message me!
My 2 roommates and I are looking for a 4th girl to live with us next year at UT.
Our apartment is in West Campus area right next to UT.
Again, just message me if any of you are interested and I can give you more details regarding the apartment.
Thanks!

@golfing7861 the wait sucks and I can’t find any helpful information on their website. It just says contracts are offered based on availability but I would assume that most of the incoming freshman already accepted contracts so I don’t know how long it will still take.

Got my acceptance letter to the Cockrell School of Engineering (Civil Engineering).

Stats:

Transferred from in-state 4 year university (Texas Tech) with 72 hours
Institution GPA: 3.91
Cumulative GPA: 3.93
Two essays (Topic A & E) both edited at least 10 times by different teachers.
Resume with a lot of extracurriculars from HS and my first two years in college.
One letter of recommendation from my Calculus 2 professor.

Can’t wait to attend this wonderful university! Good luck to everyone waiting on decisions! Hang in there!

@Putnan‌ You have a good chance assuming that you have good essays and that all 31 hours count towards transferring. You also demonstrate calculus readiness (Calc 1 & Calc 2). 3.9 is a good GPA to get into engineering, but all other components of the application are important as well.

I agree that the engineering college is difficult to get in to. After all, it is one of the best in the nation.

@Dolzoo Congratulations! Try going on the interactive degree audit on the my status page. You can also speak to an admissions advisor on the phone.

@rice00princess‌ I am not too sure but when in doubt, try calling a UT admissions office. They’ll give you the best answer. They have served me well.

@kaligleean‌ Thanks for responding. But I have one more question though. Does my Ap course credit also counts towards transferring? I heard some other freshmen could apply to UT for 2013 spring semester since they had a lot of credits from their ap courses in high schools. Also, congratulation for getting in :D
