@melonpanman that’s interesting! I wonder how that would affect me in terms of job prospects from future employers. But not that it bothers me, in fact I’ve actually been considering minoring in Writing or English or something along those lines. If anything this makes me even more on the fence haha.

@Bearly Hey yeah, but on the other hand, it gives students more freedom to explore! Cal grads aren’t exactly lacking in job offers after university, either–it’s pretty much assumed by the university that “you come here, why worry?”
The curriculum, despite being a BA, is actually quite tough–I don’t know anything about mathematics specifically, but I know CS and Engineering at Cal is generally considered to be much more rigorous than at UCLA. The degree=/=how hard students are working, that’s for sure–I put in a ridiculous amount of time in architecture studio, despite it “only” being a BA. (Granted, I did choose studio track.) But yeah, that specific case of a BA degree for architecture made a difference in job prospects (Cal doesn’t offer a BArch) and is one of my main driving factors for leaving.
I am so proud of us all. We all worked so hard to achieve our goals. For those who posted on this thread continuously and didn’t get in to UCLA, I know that your paths will lead you to tremendous places. I can’t believe the stats of some of the applicants here - I feel honored to have been considered with such a fine group of dedicated, hard-working students. My love to everyone here, on all the incredible journeys we have undertaken.

@Legolas154 ohhh. You applied as psychology as your alternate major. If anything, you should’ve applied as cognitive science for your alternate and psychology as your main.TAP doesn’t work if an impacted major like psychology is your alternate.

@Xaevyr I do not include loans in my financial aid award/total cost calculations because loans will increase the cost. of attending. I just don’t see loans as a form of aid, really. What would be your amount of aid at UCLA? From my perspective, nearly 10,000 per year to attend is still substantial. My friend had estimated costs of about $8,000. I was hoping that I would only have to pay a max of about 6-7000 per year. Hopefully if I am accepted at Berkeley, they would also be more generous. I think my decision will likely come down to cost of attendance, because I am truly torn between the three campuses.
@METransfer I’m in the same boat as you. I got accepted to UCLA for mechanical engineering but wait listed for Davis.

@melimoo Not a bad sign at all. My girlfriend got rejected from UCSD, waitlisted at UCLA and accepted to Cal last year.

@Tsion33 Essays have to carry some weight; I got accepted with a 3.14 GPA, so I certainly can’t blame it on my grades.
