Kind of surprised I got in I thought missing physics would make for an automatic rejection, also a little bummed I couldn’t apply as a biochem major because of the missing physics so I don’t know if I will attend.

I would have posted sooner but I’ve been at work, but…

I’M ACCEPTED.

I am BEYOND grateful and excited to have been accepted to UCLA. I was honestly really nervous about not being accepted just because GPA doesn’t mean everything and there are always flukes in the admissions process. However, this is my #1 choice, and so I am especially excited and happy to see that my hard work paid off and that I will be able to attend my dream school in the Fall :slight_smile:

@sammycatt congrats! I recall you being one of the more nervous applicants here so I was really pulling for you.

@LM1993, yay, another English major!

@Outerhaven Thank you! You too!!!

@apocalypso congrats!!

@Tik1127 @Legolas154 I highly doubt essays carry much weight since I spent literally no time on mine, I wrote both essays the day they were due. Which probably wasn’t a smart choice but I had too much going on in school. With a gpa as high as legolas154 and pre-reqs completed I would definitely contact them to see where you went wrong.

@Bearly most (if not all??? I forget) Cal degrees are BA. They want you to graduate with a BA no matter what because they want their students to graduate with a “well-rounded” degree. That’s basically a big thing in Cal and the people that Cal accepts (vs. UCLA); they want people who are not only talented in their field, but who are interdisciplinary and willing to explore. Frustrating when you’re an architecture major (like I was) but not a bad idea sometimes.

Result: Accepted
GPA: 3.80
Major GPA: 4.0
Major: Sociology
TAP: Hell no.
IGETC: Yup
Major Prereqs: Completed 2/4 that were offered at my community college.
ECs: Work 25 hours a week. All other volunteer work was very little to non-existent.
Race: Asian
Gender: Male
Essay: Nothing grand. Just an okay mediocre essay.
Applied: UCR, UCLA, UCB
Accepted: UCR, UCLA
Pending: UCB

I have two B’s, one C, one F, and two W’s. I made up the F for an A. The two W’s are for the same class, trigonometry. I never retook the class for a better grade. Looks like UCLA is pretty lenient. T:

Got in for sociology! 3.52 gpa
