@LuckyName thanks, ill probably end up doing what you’re doing as well haha.
Does anyone know how to create an email address ending with ucla.edu before submitting SIR? because I want to put xxx@ucla.edu as my official email address on my SIR.
Thank you in advance.
I think you need to SIR first to be allowed a UCLA email address.
From what I can see, you can’t actually use the UCLA email as the official email for the SIR, although it may be possible to change it after submission.
Has anybody successfully registered for Pilot Day? Everytime I try to register it leads me to my decision letter, but there’s no way of registering for it on there!
anybody go t a regents invite yet?
@bizmlover I’m certain you can double! Since I Physics and Applied Math aren’t impacted, and they all have very similar pre-reqs anyways. I’m actually in the opposite situation as you, I got in as Applied Math but I am thinking of doubling in Statistics.
To reaffirm what I was saying: when I last met a UCLA rep, I asked about switching/doubling, and she said that as long as that major wasn’t impacted, you were okay (provided you also completed pre-reqs)
Guys! So for the language requirement to GRADUATE from UCLA, I believe that you have to have a whole year of foreign language under your belt. I attend a quarter school where foreign language is split into three parts (which is a whole year of foreign language), as does UCLA. I’m not sure about semester systems. The language requirement to TRANSFER to UCLA is to take up the second part. Do you guys know if we’ll be exempt from the graduation requirement if we complete IGETC? I don’t want to get there and then realize, “Crap. I need to take a third quarter of Spanish here.” I’d rather get it done over the summer if that’s the case.
@UCLAzzw thank you for answering… now Im going to press the submit !!
@fullload In regards to meeting with a counselor, @lindyk8 is correct it happens at orientation. But so you know, the only counselor you meet with that day for 1 on 1 advising is a student advisor who actually knows very little about the specifics of your major. You’ll serve yourself well to figure out to the best of your ability on your own before orientation. At my orientation we had a group meeting with our Departmental advisor, but there was no 1 on 1 counseling.
Lindy and Candles, thanks for the tips, I’m on it!
@wlasm15 Regarding SIR’ing. The UC statement is “You may accept admission to one campus only. You may not transfer your acceptance from one campus to another after you declare your intent to register. A $100 nonrefundable deposit must accompany your acceptance.”
@Bearly awesome! that’s what I think too but just want to make sure. If both of us go to UCLA we may have same class ! Are you going to SIR to UCLA or still waiting for Cal?
For those of you who have not heard back yet, do you guys know why your decisions have not been posted yet? Also, when do they typically release decisions?
It’s all random. And we will know in a rolling basis so it can come out anytime up until the deadline (April 30th). Fyi I’m in the same boat
Hey guys, so I just got an email to apply for UCLA’s Alumni Scholarship. The website is characteristically vague, so I’m wondering if you knew…well, really, anything about it. Like, it is mutually exclusive with the Regents scholarship? Out of the people they send it to, how many actually get it? (Don’t know how you would know that, but then again, there are some UC wizards on here, so thought I’d ask anyway.) Thanks in advance!
@slantrhymes I received the email to apply for the Alumni scholarship as well, but I’ve actually known about it for a couple months now and have been working on it for most of that time. I think it’s completely separate from the Regents scholarship, since it’s been out for so long now.
I also have a question for the general forum:
I listed on my FAFSA that I would be living on campus, however, I’ve decided not to. Do I need to notify someone of this? I just received the Housing email, so it got me thinking about what I should do.
Thanks!
I believe you just change your fafsa option, and contact UCLA financial aid about the change.
@bizmlover Waiting for Cal! I’m actually on the fence and can’t choose (if I do get in). At least one good thing that would come out of Berkeley rejecting me is I won’t have to make that choice (I’m a pretty indecisive person)…but if we both do end up going to UCLA hopefully we’ll see each other in some of our classes!
