@frickendavid GOOD NEWS!
On the issue of bikes, Stanford has run amok with bikes and quite seriously, you are taking your life in your hands walking across campus.
@lindyk8 I visited a friend on the Stanford campus, and witnessed TWO bike accidents. One bike v bike, and one pedestrian v bike. Everyone was okay, but it was still kinda scary!
Thats why I’m glad there are areas of UCLA (and SMC) that are no bike zones.
@luckie1367
When you start school at UCLA this Fall, you’ll find that many people on BruinWalk still use bikes when they’re not supposed to. The police are usually not there, so people who shouldn’t be on bikes, scooters, etc. ride them with virtual impunity and without fear of getting a ticket. It is what it is, lol
Oh, thanks for the heads up @Cayton ! I’ll make sure to be careful!
Do I have to notify UCLA if I decided to take summer classes?

@FUTUREUCLABRUIN1 If you find out, will you let me know?
Are you taking UCLA classes or CC classes?
anyone know when 2015 acceptance rates come out?
^^^^ October/ November
Hello guys, I am a transfer applicant from a CCC,
I was rejected from UCLA for Fall 2015 Economics, I was just wondering if I should appeal since the deadline is today, what do you guys think?
Overall GPA: 3.763
Total Units: 58 transferable
This semester I am taking 21 units, I already completed 5 (Calc 1 received an A)
TAP certified
IGETC certified
Executive Council for the student government on campus
PTK
TAE (School’s honor society)
Part time job
Essays were pretty good
I graduated from high school June of 2013 and missed Fall 2013 semester because I was set to go to UCSB however, I ended up not going because there was a mistake in my SIR and i was classified as an out of state applicant. Regardless of the missed semester, I worked hard in order to transfer this spring and so far I have been only accepted into UCSD’s joint math and econ major.
Should I appeal?
Thanks in advance
@UknowWhyIamHere how much of that info is considered new information? Generally appeals do not work if you tell them what you’ve already told them.
Also, know that Econ is a very difficult major, and your stats look to be a little below their average https://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/adm_tr/Tr_Prof14_mjr.htm#CE
UCSD is an excellent school, so don’t be too upset if the UCLA appeal does not go through.
Hey guys, so I am planning on transferring from UCSB to UCLA. I just had a couple questions that could maybe get answered:
I am taking CC classes over the summer. Will the grades I receive at CC be included in the overall GPA that I will be applying with or separately?
Also, is it bad to take P/NP for some of the GE classes that are NOT related to my major whatsoever? I do not want to risk my GPA…
@infinitize I answered this on your original thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/1776760-p-np-for-uc-to-uc-transfer.html#latest
@luckie1367 oh shoot! sorry im still relatively new to college confidential, so im quite clueless. thank you for your response!
@luckie1367 Just the part about UCSB, I really just want to stress how I set myself up to transfer this year since I was charged the extra fees and could not afford tuition.
That is true, but graduating with TAP means graduating with 18 units of honors courses. I know it isn’t a 4.0, but Im sure taking honors courses and taking on a rigorous curriculum should be weighed in the decision, right?
Thanks for your response
@luckie1367 in the appeal I could also talk more in depth about my student government position and how i was elected to be the Chair of the elections committee (new information) and how making decisions and by making my good judgement the committee was able to carry out a successful election
@UknowWhyIamHere Did you leave UCSB in good standing? Why was your SLR wrong?
TAP is considered, so long as you had it on your UC application. That being said, even with TAP, your stats and ECs were average for the econ major, which had a ~3% admit rate last year.
I’m not trying to dissuade you, or hurt your feelings, I just don’t want to give you false hope about your appeal.
Edit: I just saw your second post, and sure, include that as well.
@luckie1367 yeah UCSD is a good school, and the econ program is ranked pretty high
@UknowWhyIamHere you have 3.5 hours to write an appeal, bro. Be careful and good luck.
