@luckie1367 I never attended, and I did not receive the SLR appeal letter in time to attend my current CC so I did not attend that Fall.
I relocated to California from Florida my junior year of high school and since my parents were still living in Florida, and since I still had my Florida license (even though i did not drive)
Do waitlisted students generally add the class? I’m 10th on the wailist for a summer class, but they fees still show up on Bruin bill. Does that mean I’m in? Do Professors add like in CC, or do I have to wait for 10 people to drop? Do I get the fees back if I’m unable to add?
You won’t be charged if you don’t get in. It really varies from prof to prof about waitlists. Some just let the Waitlist sort itself out, and will never give add codes. Some profs will give add codes to X number on the waitlist automatically.
I recommend emailing the prof and asking what their policy is. They are usually pretty forthcoming. @Sike13
@uclabruin96 Congrats on picking a great major! Based on last year’s transfer profile, I would say you have a great chance on GPA alone. The average GPA admitted for fall 2014 was 3.54, so your GPA is well above that right now. Of course, admission is based on other aspects as well. I recommend getting involved in any anthro projects that may be available on campus or summer programs, if possible. But that’s more for your own benefit! Also, the fourth prerequisite I was talking about is the Culture and Communication class that UCLA ‘requires’ but wasn’t offered at any community colleges nearby. I’ve heard other anthro majors just take it there after they transfer.
I know this the LA thread, but I received acceptance packets from all other UC schools except UCI. Has
anyone who also applied to UCI, experienced this same problem or delay? I was admitted 4/24
@infinitize As a UCLA Transfer admit from UCSB, I can answer all of those questions!
CC classes do not go into your UC gpa. You only get units. This is why cc transfers get a fresh gpa and UC transfers don’t.
Also, as long as you do not change any classes your sophomore year (F,W, S, and Sum) to pass/no pass, you’ll be fine. You can only apply with 21 pnp units, just keep that in mind. Bottom line, you can take a class without a grade before you apply. They don’t like it after you apply.
@goldencub CC GPA does count for grad school. However, it is not calculated into the new UC GPA, which is used for honors classification among other things.
Well I’m officially freaked out, just thought I’d share. My contract stipulates all my classes in spring must be B’s or better. However I’m almost positive now one of them will be a C. Overall, my grades will be 5 A’s, and one C. The first C I’ve ever received, but it’s in a critical mathematics IGETC course, the only single math course I’ve ever taken (stats).
I have this sinking feeling I just can’t shake. Couldn’t sleep at all last night. I feel like I should write UCLA and warn them of the coming C. They were very clear in the contract and even specified that Statistics needed to be a B, by name.
The worst part is, I seriously think I can get a 4.0 with every UD class at UCLA. I always ace my major classes, with relative ease, even all my IGETC courses really. The one stupid class in my entire college career in a subject I will never take again for the rest of my life, nor use the rest of my life, is going to get me rescinded. I’m completely shell shocked right now.
