@fullload You should just contact them and let them know asap. I do not think your admission will be affected by getting one C, and this is coming from an admissions counselor at the Bay Area Bruin Transfer event I attended a few weeks ago who said that letting them know beforehand about a situation you are unsure about grade-wise, is the most important thing you could do. The counselor said it was people who did not tell them before transcript review in the summer were the ones who got rescinded–and those were people with D and F grades, not C Grades.They would much rather admit you than rescind you if you are honest with them. A C really isn’t that bad to them from what they implied. I hope this helps you ease your mind.
@fullload
I think UCLA issues those scary-sounding contracts to motivate people not to slack off, but a little decrease in academic performance is usually OK, especially if it’s a C in a nonmajor class. Let them know about it before it happens and you’ll almost certainly not get rescinded. A lot of people here last year were in much worse situations and retained their offers of admission.
Thanks. That’s what I’ve been told by others as well, however, why would they be so specific? I’ve never heard of them pointing out a class by name and a B for anyone else. Have you? I hear a lot about others having to maintain a C average, but that’s about it.
I’ll let them know once I verify the C in a couple weeks.
@fullload I’ve heard of contracts being that specific, especially about math/english/missing pre req classes.
Do you have a TAP counselor you can speak to who can contact UCLA on your behalf? I agree with other posters with letting UCLA know.
Also, can you talk to your professor and as if there is anything you can do to get you at a B-?
Can anybody help me with the housing application? No matter what I do, I can’t seem to submit a photo. I even tried submitting a random picture off of Google just to see if the site was just hating on my photos or something. Does it need to be in a specific file format? Like png instead of jpg? I even tried 4 different browsers, but still get an error whenever I upload my picture. Or does the housing site not work on the weekends or something? Thanks for any help.
@zettasyntax it might be their website. My photo disappeared today. I didn’t know what may have caused it until I read your post.
@LuckyName Thanks for the info! I guess I just decided to fill out the application on a bad day. Maybe tomorrow it will be resolved. I really thought they were rejecting my pictures instantly or something, so I was getting discouraged
Has anyone heard back from the alumni scholarship ppls?
I picked UCLA over Berkeley! While I still feel Berkeley’s name means a little more, I feel really at home on UCLA’s campus and am much more impressed with their student resources. I feel like going to Berkeley would be two tough years of fighting, while going to UCLA feels more empowering. I also feel a better connection to my department at UCLA.
@UCLAorUCB I also chose UCLA over Berkeley! Cal might be more prestigious, but both are up there, and I felt more connected to UCLA than I did Berkeley. The classes in my major (English) also seemed more interesting at UCLA, and more aligned with my own interests. I think LA has more job opportunities for my interests, and I like the area more. Also, students at UCLA just seemed… happier? More supportive? Getting into Berkeley really made me think, but after going to PILOT Day and Bruin Day (and connecting with other transfers), I really feel like UCLA was the right choice for me. Your mileage may vary.
@hpmv13 I’ve only received one email in early May, thats it. You? have you heard of anyone receiving anything?
@p2gusboy77
I haven’t joined it, but I know someone who’s in it and he says it’s kind of a pain to deal with. Mandatory honors classes to take, so it kind of restricts your schedule and what other classes you can take.
On the other hand, you get priority registration for classes. That can come in handy when you want to get those classes that fill up quickly.
Hi guys,
I’ve been following this thread since before decisions were posted and I finally decided to make an account! Congrats to everyone who was admitted.
I was wondering someone could help me in regards to maintaining academic performance for the admission contract and I’m not sure if someone addressed this or not.
So basically on my application I was admitted with a 3.69 GPA as a Pre-Political Science major from a CCC. It tells me to “Maintain the grade point average and complete the courses and number of units as reported in your application and in any subsequent course updates. You must be in good standing at your last institution of attendance”
and “(including 2 or more C grades, any D and/or F grades, any C grades in major preparatory courses), or other changes to your class schedule”
I’m 99 percent positive I won’t be receiving any C’s this semester, but I calculated a possible overall GPA with Spring grades included and my GPA will go down to 3.65.
My question is if I should contact UCLA or not? I will also be IGETC certified by the end of this semester.
@UCLA17 no, don’t contact if your GPA is only going down 0.04. You’re fine.
@luckie1367 oh okay thank you! I just wanted to make sure because I want to make sure I complete the right steps for financial aid and admissions because I’ve had my admission revoked from CSUN before in high school when I forgot to follow a couple steps haha.
^^^Agree. They’re talkibg about major drops like from 3.69 to 3.4 or something. You’re fine.
Do you guys know when housing offers are coming out?
@ucla17 few days after the June 1st deadline.
I apologize if this was already asked, but how badly would a “no pass”/passing but less than excellent grades look on my transcript? It’s not a major class (none of my classes this quarter are), and I was unable to drop the class I plan on pass/failing due to not getting back grades until after the deadline, so I didn’t know how I was doing until then. Thanks a lot!
@Calgirl95 is it an IGECT class? If so, letter grade. If you think you’re going to get a C, go P/NP
