Fall 2015 UCLA transfer students

I’m transferring from a UC, so I don’t really know if the same standard applies to me as community college students. It is a breadth requirement though, and I’m almost sure I’m not going to pass the class.

Hey guys do you know if we can get our transcripts evaluated before orientation because I’m planning to take summer courses, and I don’t know which of my courses articulated, since I have out of state college transcripts?

^^^^ Short answer is no. You can TRY to reach out to admissions but it likeky won’t help. I tried last year because I had inits from a CSU, but they didn’t budge.

If I was accepted then I am assuming my two semester of english comp transferred over, otherwise I wouldn’t be accepted in the first place since I would have to have minimally satisfy the two transferrable english courses criteria, and of course the other minimal requirements. OR can they change their minds and revoke your admissions, since they decide it won’t transfer. I just don’t know whether my physics I from my OOS college articuates. Should I assume it does, and take the second semester Physics with Calculus II course at a CCC?

Hey guys. I’m sorry for re-ask my problem, but I really need an answer from you guys! (UCLA keep sending me same thing)

So, I’m taking a 4-unit Biological science class with lab this semester, which is my ONLY class, and my last class to complete IGETC. Problem is I think I’m gonna get C which will be my third C before transfer, and I saw on UCLA admission web, it says “report if you receive more than 2Cs” does it mean only report if I receive 2Cs in my last semester or the sum of Cs that I have including this spring semester? (I got in UCLA with 2Cs that I got last fall)

My condition does not say anything about minimum GPA but it says “complete IGETC with C or higher”

This Bio class is not a major require class.

I’d really appreciate your answer!

ps. Should I also SIR to UCI for worst case?

UCLA already knows what you did prior to spring, so why would they need you to update regarding previous courses. I’m not really sure what’s unclear about the requirements.

@wlasm15

What are the best apartments through university housing? and are there any close to the north campus?

Thank you!

2 Cs last term.

@2016Candles @lindyk8 Thank you so much, guess I will be fine then!

I’ve enrolled in a summer course that has prerequisites. I satisfy the equivalent courses at CC, but am wondering if there’s anything I need to do since my courses from CC won’t be evaluated until orientation. There’s a warning that says the professor can drop me if I don’t satisfy those prerequisites. Do I just bring an unofficial transcript on the first day or something?

@anikom15 - I would email the instructor to ask the question. It’s at their discretion, so only they can answer your question. If the prereq is something very standard it will probably be fine. If it’s something more specialized, you may run into a problem. But like I said email the prof. Use your ucla email adress and be sure to indicate the course and quarter in the subject line.

@anikom15
In addition to what @2016Candles said, if you’ve taken the equivalent courses, assist.org should indicate that they are equivalent; show the professor in question that they’re equivalent by linking them to the specific assist.org page that indicates that and they should have no problem allowing you to enroll in their class.

I was told that ucla housing offers will be available on June 7-8th. He also mentioned that everyone gets a priority number. Does anyone know if your priority number is available before your actual offer? Like on the 2nd or 3rd will it tell us our number or do we have to wait until our official offers are made?

@History2Law
I didn’t get anything about that last year. Maybe this priority number stuff is new. Or maybe it exists, but isn’t made known to you or something.

On my admissions contract to UCLA, it says that I have to “Maintain the grade point average and complete the courses and number of units as reported in your application and in any subsequent course updates. You must be in good standing at your last institution of attendance”. I know that I am not going to be able to keep my GPA up this quarter as I’m finishing up the breadth requirements for UC Riverside, and none of them have anything to do with my major, so I’m really struggling to stay afloat. Does anyone know how strict the admission contract is?

Yeah, that priority number is news to me, too.

@anikom15, it’s great you’re being pro-active. I would get a screenshot of the assist page noting that the course is the equivalent of whatever the pre-req course is, as @cayton said. And then I would send it via email as @206candles said, using your UCLA email.

Thats what the UCLA dude told me at Transfer day. He said they randomly assign everyone a priority number and then assign housing based on your number. They go down the list in that order and then go based off your list. If your #1 is available, you get it.

He also said that 4% are singles, 25-27% are doubles and about 70% are triples rooms.

@History2Law That could be true. It makes sense. If the numbers are assigned randomly, it’s still like a “lottery.”

Hey guys, sorry to ask again, but I’m still having a problem with my housing application :frowning: It won’t let me upload a picture at all. I even took a live picture on my phone and tried to fill out the application on my phone since my computer was failing to upload any pictures of me. Has anyone else had problems or is everyone pretty much done with the application by now? I had tried on Sunday, but decided to give it a few days to see if the problem would sort itself out. I really have no idea what to do since I try tons of pictures and nothing will upload. Are my pictures too big or something? =\
