Can I send in AP scores even if I didn’t report it on my UC app?
@luckyname I’m not sure I understand what you’re saying. You can get Partial and then a Full when finished, and as far as I know it can be sent wherever and whenever.
UC:
“Students who do not complete IGETC before transferring will be required to satisfy the specific lower-division general education/breadth requirements of the UC college or school they attend. However, California community colleges may grant partial certification of IGETC to students who are missing no more than two requirements. Students submitting partial IGETC certification should complete the missing requirements at either UC or a California community college as designated by their department. Students who have been granted partial IGETC certification should not return to the community college for a full certification.”
Meaning you do it in summer before you start the UC.
@direwolfin, how come you didn’t mention it? I don’t know what to say on that. You were supposed to mention it.
@luckyname from UCLA:
“Students who are unable to complete one or two IGETC courses for good cause may petition the community college for partial completion of IGETC. If the petition is approved by the community college, the remaining courses must be completed with a minimum grade of C within one calendar year after admission to UCLA. Failure to complete IGETC coursework within the specified time period results in a permanent denial of IGETC certification, and students are required to complete the College GE requirements.”

Has anyone heard back anything regarding their Regents application? They said there’d be some kind of reply by May 20th… Here I am on May 27th with no response. You would think they would’ve responded by now, scholarship or no scholarship.
Anyone know when the summer loan and aid is deposited into our accounts?
Whoa, you’re all really active at night. Hopefully I can respond to everyone:
@LuckyName specifically for the psych major, we can take Sociology, neuroscience, and I think some education classes to fulfill requirements
@direwolfin I’d call and ask so that they are aware you’ll be sending them. Why didn’t you mention them on your app?
@lindyk8 SMC doesn’t have any policy about a one time submission, but IDK about the other UCs.
@littlebill Regents notifications have already gone out, I believe that if you did not hear, you did not get the award.
@fullload I’m curious as well. You’ve already gone through all of the steps for accepting them, right?
Yeah already accepted, all hoops jumped through for the offer. Just curious if they deposit it after the quarter begins in a few weeks or before.
Hmmm… I know at SMC it was after the semester started, but I’m not sure it that is the standard.
Never took any at CC, but thinks it’s strange considering so many student are coming from out of town and would need the money before the quarter starts to settle in.
I know, thats what frustrated me about the one from SMC. I got it 4 weeks after the semester had started, when what I really needed it for was to get the books for my classes… plus the loan people were not very friendly.
@lindyk8 What I heard (don’t know if it’s right or wrong) is that you can only send IGETC certification just once. So if you send it to UCSB and then decide that you’re not attending there and want to send it to UCLA, you’re pretty much screwed.
@fullload http://www.loans.ucla.edu/disbursement/disbursementcalendar.html
last year it was June 13th, which means it’ll most likely be June 12th this year.
The IGETC certification is on your transcript. How would the UCs and CSUs even know where you’ve sent your transcripts to? That doesn’t make any sense to me.
@anikom15 The IGETC certification is not on your transcript. This is a different form that has to be requested separately, hence why people have said “you can only request it once.”
Did tuition decrease? o_O
My financial aid letter was updated this morning with my alumni scholarship, but I noticed tuition was decreased by $555.00
The original amount was $13,806 and it now shows $13,251 o_O
@luckie1367 Did you ever hear back from Alumni Scholars? I emailed them asking what the next step would be and they said nothing has to be done as of now because they will still be selecting people throughout the summer. So if you didn’t hear back from them, you might still have a chance bud!
@luckyname that doesn’t make sense. I have never heard that in my life.
And if you get scholarships, yes, aid can be adjusted.
@lindyk8 That’s what i’ve heard, haha! I already sent my IGETC weeks ago but I’ve just heard a few people say that at school, Facebook transfer page, i’ve also heard it on here a couple of times.
and yeah, I get that my aid was going to be adjusted. But they added $2,000 from a scholarship, removed $2,000 from some loans, and removed an additional $55.00 from the tuition fees. So COA is now $30,231 opposed to $30,786 ($13,251 vs $13,806 for just tuition). I’m trying to figure out why they lowered it $55.00 unless tuition did decrease.
@lindyk8 and luckyname, maybe its a CC policy? At SMC you can send 58837584 IGETC stuff, but you have to pay $5 each time.
@LuckyName , aw! Thank you! I’m holding out hope since the program looks really cool (and the $4k would help out too!) Hopefully I hear good news this summer!
Also, my tuition still says $13,806…
I changed something on my fafsa the other day and it updated to say less aid but also less for tuition. I think it has to do with the bill that was passed. It might take longer to update for those of you who haven’t changed anything/won any scholarships.
