Do we get to choose our move In day for the dorms? or is it assigned.
@Ellie64 I feel old too and I’m even older than you, I’m 23 haha. Where is the UCLA transfer page? I wanna join!
I’m 22 and a half! I went to a UCLA event yesterday and they said people in their 30’s dorm all the time and love it.
I think most transfers will fall in the 19-22 range. Plus, I don’t think most people would notice unless you tell them.
There was a guy on my floor who was a 26-year-old Navy veteran. No one had a problem with the age difference and it doesn’t really seem uncommon to have older students dorm anyway.
So @cayton are you staying on campus next year (if you can get it) or moving off?
Is anyone else in Sproul?
@sagemeadow You initially get assigned a move-in date but you can switch the date/time to whatever works.
@Manda001 search for UCLA transfer students. It’s a public group with 8,500+ members
@k4201505 thanks, found it!
Is it possible to join clubs at campus as a transfer student? What about a sorority? I know that on bruin day, they handed out flyers with information about rush week but I’m thinking that most people will be around 18-20 in sororities so it would be weird as a transfer? I don’t know how it works hehe
Yes, you can absolutely join clubs as a transfer student and I know and have plenty of transfer friends who are involved in Greek life. However, you should probably rush the fall quarter you start, as fall is when most frats/sororities rush and you’ll be able to maximize the amount of time you’re in it.
Tomorrow’s my last day as an anteater and I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited about anything. Then I can officially join you all as a Bruin! #peaceoutUCI
@lindyk8
I’ll be commuting. I don’t live too far from the school, relatively speaking.
As nice as dorming was, I probably should’ve given more thought to making the decision to live on-campus. Dining was nice overall, even if it got tired after a while, and the socializing was cool, too. But it seemed like something of a distraction from classes, oddly enough. I know for a lot of people, living on-campus helps keep one focused on studying, but it didn’t feel that way for me. Also, living on campus felt a little suffocating after a while, like I was living in a bubble. It felt very refreshing to go back home every weekend, which I started doing around the end of fall quarter/beginning of winter quarter.
I don’t know. Maybe I’m just different when it comes to this sort of stuff.
To everyone else: I hope you guys enjoy dorming as much as I did, if not more!
Hey!! You still in for switching?
I forgot to report a course I took in high school in the UC app in November, but I reported it in the TAU on the additional comments section in January. This is kinda late, but do I still need to report this to UCLA?
@direwolfin, well, yeah, if it was an earlier grade, you were supposed to send it to an email, but they would have seen it in the TAU and it’s too late now. I doubt it will affect anything. Just send the transcript. You did mention it, so I think it’s all cool.
Okay quick question ~ apparently my transcripts through Fall 2014 are due on June 30 because I was admitted late, but I think transcripts through Spring 2015 are due on July 1. Can I have just one copy of my grades that includes this spring sent to them since my grades will be done in time?
@fncrane probably, I’d just email them and let them know you are only sending one copy.
A few interesting things I noticed after I submitted my SIR (yes I already did it I was too excited):
admitted off of the waitlist for economics!
