@UCLA17 housing said by the end of this week.
Hey guys! UCLA housing has a program where if you find someone with a mutual housing preference, you can switch!
I have a double in Reiber Vista Plaza.
Female
Looking For:
Any deluxe triple/double, a triple/double in DN, or any University Apartment!!
Lol DUH.
Jeez I have a weird situation currently.
Finals was last week and the week before I rented a study room in the library. I had to rent this door hanger for the room and I returned it after I was done. Fast forward to last Thursday, I went to check my officials grades and it kept telling me to talk to the library but they wouldn’t answer my call. I am assuming that they didn’t properly scan the door hanger and it shows that I didn’t return it which was a 5 dollar fine. Now they won’t answer and are all on vacation for a week. No other department has access to tell me how much the fine is… Online it doesn’t even tell me how the fine is. The hold wont let me view my grades or unofficial transcripts. They don’t want to let order transcripts a fine that I don’t deserve and they wont let me pay for it…
I finally got a hold of them(crazy summer hours this week). The hold was over a 25 cent fine for returning the door hanger a few minutes late. I have to go in person to pay the stupid fine.
@Ellie64 Lets trade. I have a deluxe triple at DN
Dont forget to mention if youre a male or female when talking about trading dorms.
Where is the transfer experience housing again?
De Neve at Holly is what current transfer students at UCLA are being told by housing is the transfer experience area. Nothing is official yet.
Thanks!
If I accept my housing offer, do I have to pay anything straight away? And IF I would change my mind in say, one month, is there a way to back out of the housing offer or is it final and I will be responsible for 9 months of payment? I just can’t make up my mind whether or not to go for on campus housing, the thinking time is not enough!! 8->
@Manda001 I think the first payment is due 6/23, so you have some time.
I’m not sure how binding the acceptance is, so I’d call them and ask if I were you. I think at this point it would be easy to fill your space, so I don’t imagine you’ll be on the hook for 9 month of payments…
@Manda001 that depends on which payment option you pay. All require some type of payment by the end of the month though.
Also if you decide to cancel after you accept, it will be a $400.00 contract termination fee.
@luckie1367 @LuckyName thanks for the quick replies!! Yeah, I should probably call them … I got a triple room and I’m just used to having my own space so I’m worried that I’ll end up with people that have weird habits or that I don’t get along with or something At the same time, I’m worried I won’t make friends so it would be helpful to live in dorms too … ugh, such a hard decision!
there’s no need to call. everything you need to know is on your contract.
"Contract Termination Fee: A $400 Contract Termination Fee shall be paid by the Student if terminating his or her Housing Contract, unless the Contract is terminated as a result of circumstances (including compelling and unanticipated medical or financial problems) beyond his or her control as determined by the University in its sole discretion. The Contract Termination Fee covers the University’s administrative costs resulting from Student vacating or failing to occupy the room, is agreed to be reasonable, and is accepted as the amount of liquidated damages caused by such circumstances because it is at this time impractical and difficult to determine actual damages. The Contract Termination Fee is in addition to any sums owed by Student for an unauthorized termination, such as, but not limit to, room and board fees until the end of the contract term or until a replacement student can be found, and assumes occupancy of the unit. It shall be Student’s responsibility to furnish University’s Housing Assignment Office with evidence of dismissal from the University within seven days of the effective date of dismissal. "
@LuckyName thanks again! I guess I’ll have to decline my housing offer then, I don’t want to pay a huge fee if I change my mind and I’m not 100 percent sure I want to stay on campus Oh well, I just wish that we could have a couple of more weeks to think about it @-)
@Manda001 I was told on Bruin Transfer Day that financial aid students could cancel without fees up until the week before move in weekend. I would call and confirm that with them.
@FUTUREUCLABRUIN1 I’m so in!
Are you on the Facebook transfer page?
We can exchange info via fbook if needed or here or text whatever works best for you!!
I’m guessing since its a deluxe triple it will be in Gardenia or Holly right? Just wondering, did you submit a theme housing request or just the regular one?
@Manda001 I’m having the same indesive thoughts!
I don’t so much care about the space, but just the price! It’s just so much cheaper to get off campus housing and share a bedroom with one or two people. And we would still have a living room and kitchen so it wouldn’t feel as crammed.
I feel a little old for dorms too (22)
How old is everyone else?
If anyone else is looking into off campus housing potentially, let me know if you’re on the UCLA transfer page and we could add each other! Haha just a thought
@Ellie64 Yeah, I feel a little ancient too I’m 21, but I’ll be 22 the week before classes start. I’m seriously considering going off campus. I’m happy I was assigned a room with a private bathroom, but I do also think it’s a little cramped for the price and knowing me, I actually think I’ll forget to pay some of the initial payments (I think it said three payments of $100) before I move in and mess everything up for me. I didn’t think I’d be so indecisive either
