Fall 2015 UCLA transfer students

Just checked my housing application on the housing portal, and it says the other two beds are empty… :open_mouth:

Whoo! De facto single!

Do you think they’ll assign you someone?

I dunno! I might call tomorrow and ask exactly what this means. It would be nice to technically have a single while paying for the price of a triple

@fncrane Wow cool! I’m on the third floor :O. Also that’s weird, it should show your roommate info right when you click on 2015-2016 term (same page that has the [Continue] button that leads you to move-in time. On that page it says Assignment Information / Mailing Information / Roommates in your room)

Just wondering anyone do move-in assistant? I was planning to because I wanted to move in early but I missed the deadline to apply, was wondering how early they move in

@Bearly I’m on the fifth floor  I signed up to be a move in assistant and I’m moving in on the 15th

If we are assigned specific roommates, do you think we are allowed to room with another suite mate instead? Or is there anyway to request a change in a roommate?

@fncrane wowow! That’s early. But cool, maybe I might run into you moving in :P. No doubt we’ll see each other at some point given that we’re both gonna be taking the same math classes aand be living in the same building

Found out both my roommates are freshmen, dang I was hoping at least one would be an upperclassman (esp as it’s a plaza) so I wouldn’t feel too out of place haha.

^ @award344 there’s room swap/transfer requests. It’s a lot easier if you have someone willing to swap too because they can fulfill those, I think. More info https://housing.ucla.edu/my-housing/other-online-services/housing-room-swap-and-transfer-requests

How do I find their name and email? I can see their profile but it doesn’t have a name or email.

Also I cant find where it says my move in time is.

I switched to Sat at 5:00 which is kind of late but I didn’t want to go there so early. I mean what am I going to do with all that time anyway?

Wondering if I should email my roommates or just not care…

Did you go through here @History2law?

@luckie1367 Thanks. I was looking under the star rez. “Your assigned roommate has not agreed to release his/her information.” I guess ill get to know him when I move lol. I hope he’s not crazy!

I got Thursday around noon, Holly! I thought I’d get Gardenia, but I guess not. Looks like I got the transfer hall (my roommate is a transfer also).

Nice @apocalypso!

I can’t believe its less than a month before we move in!

This is embarrassing to ask: Are beds and desks assigned or they first come? I ask because I noticed the beds were numbered and I got Friday move-in date.

My D was in a triple shared bath last year. She was the first one to move in and she got first choice of bed and desk. We didn’t notice any numbers. We followed the process that a poster in the Fall 2014 Transfer thread wrote about.

No idea, maybe talk about it with your roommates?

In other words, it really is first come, first choice.

Yeah, I don’t know what I’m going to do with that extra time (moving in Thursday). Most of the events are scheduled for later in the week.

@apocalypso

Try exploring campus? Trying to see what clubs/organizations exist an maybe joining their summer meeting? Try checking out if the school newspaper building? Maybe try joining the newspaper? See if you can make any new friends from the other people who got there early? Learn more on why UCLA despises USC? Be that person who kinda helps everyone out as they come and ends up being everyone’s best buddy? Explore LA unless you live near there I guess. Just throwing some thoughts out there.

Good luck everyone! I’d love to be where you guys are in two years!

Come back and report for us @apocalypso

Also, did your housing say anything about transfer experience? I’ve heard conflicting info about where it is this year.
