Has anyone had ucla request unofficial transcripts?
No, you? @chr1st1
@luckie1367 Yes Today So I Scanned It and Sent It back
Hmmm… interesting. Good to know they’ve started!
If you don’t mind, when did you submit your TAU? Are you TAP certified? Do you have units not from a CC? I’m just trying to gauge how/where they start with apps.
Last year my daughter got a request from one of the others but way back in early January… This is later than I would have thought. I have a theory it’s related to possible scholarships, as the only UC that asked offered her a scholarship. But who knows?
BTW, they very rarely ask for unofficial. A lot that got regents weren’t asked for unofficial.
Sorry i meant what i submitted were the unofficial transcripts. They didn’t specify official or unofficial the email just said it needed to be done within 5 days
I submitted tau early Jan but went back and made changes a couple of times. No TAP. I think it may have to do with the fact that I emailed them after regarding changes to grades in my original application. I had academic renewal done.
Units not from a cc? No I have units from a couple different ccs and ap scores
Him, interesting. I wonder how they choose which applications need more information.
I know last year I made a reference around March about the request for my daughter’s transcript in regards to something else in a post, and I just assumed others got an UT request. All these ppl responded surprised she was asked and no one responded that they got asked. Anyway, I just forgot about it as it seemed irrelevant. She only went to one CCC.
But I also see that there are ppl with all sorts of schools listed and are not getting requests. It seems like they usually just make a decision and assume transcripts will pan out. That’s what makes me think there’s another component.
Since my daughter did get offered a scholarship from the UC that asked for the transcript (Merced), it just makes sense that they were attempting to verify GPA as she got the offer in April before they got official transcripts. So my instinct is, at least most of the time, it’s for GPA verification, and maybe for other reasons. Maybe someone’s borderline and they want verification of GPA.
2 questions:
- If a transfer student becomes accepted to UCLA and decides to take courses this summer session before the student’s first fall quarter at UCLA, will UCLA have an admissions contract for the summer courses that the student will take just like the admissions contract for the spring semester? Or will UCLA be fine as long as the student earns grades of C or higher for every course taken in the summer?
- I think the IGETC certification deadline for UCLA is September 1st? If so, does this mean that a transfer student accepted to UCLA can take courses in the summer to complete IGETC? Some CCCs in my area end the summer semesters in the middle of July and some in August which means there will be enough time to submit the IGETC certification by September 1st?
-
We just had a thread about this. I believe that the contract affects all semesters prior to beginning at the UC.

I’m not sure, best would be to call and ask.
Thank you
Just called UCLA.
Answers to:
- According to the person I spoke with who was probably a student worker, there is no admissions contract for the summer courses. You just need to get grades of C or higher.
- IGETC can be completed in the summer before enrolling at UCLA for the fall quarter. The person I spoke with had to ask a UCLA counselor about this question.
What if there is a change in your spring course work? Do I notify UCLA? Its only one course and will complete the series during summer before fall if accepted
I graduated HS last year but will be finishing up at my CCC after this Spring '15 semester. I am 18 years old and attend my local CCC.
Okay so, I took and passed 7 ap exams in HS
AP European History - 3
APUSH - 4
AP Calculus AB - 5
AP Statistics - 4
AP Biology - 3
AP MACROeconomics - 4
AP Psychology - 4
Major: Business Economics (pre)
Okay then I took two summer classes at my CC coming out of High school, got A’s in both – American Government and MICROeconomics.
So I applied with a 4.0, but it only reflects two ACTUAL college classes…
However I submitted my supplemental App for the grades I earned in Fall 2014. I got straight A’s in 17 units (5 classes)
I technically have semester 49.7 units (IGETC) completed at my CC cause of all the AP and two Summer classes. + my 17 units from Fall 2014
I work 7 days a week - 55 hours a week across two jobs (receptionist and pizza man) I discussed that in my essays about not going into debt and stuff.
Do you think 7 A’s and a 4.0 gpa is good enough to get accepted to UCLA? I have like a year of shadow credit from AP units and will be finishing IGETC and major prep this current spring (15 units) I didn’t get into SLO because they prefer that you apply with requirements completed rather than in progress
The grind is so real…
@Sustenance yes. you definitely have the chance of getting into UCLA, considering you did a lot of work to do well on your ap tests, work a huge amount (most people at cc’s wouldn’t take near 17 units while working more than what is considered full time) and got a 4.0 with a demanding school schedule. I’d say you’re pretty much guaranteed at UCLA, or any UC, really (unless you haven’t taken a large chunk of the prerequisites for your major).
@goldencub Wow that means a lot to me right now thank you Goldencub. All the pre-reqs and IGETC will be finished by this Spring. I am just seriously wondering if they will see my short time spent at a community college and use that to weed me out of what is the most impacted transfer major - Biz Econ. (people get rejected with near 4.0’s) I wonder if they will truly evaluate a 55 hour work week as a strength as it is paid work, and I’ve always thought that they would probably prefer community work or EC’s. I didn’t apply to any other UC this term because I only spent one year at CC so every class was critical and I had to focus on one school’s requirements (my forever dream school). (2 if you count SLO, but that evaluation process is very different and I only applied as a wishful experiment)
Last area of concern is that I have no honors program or TAP like many utilize to transfer to UCLA. Thank you for your responses and consideration. Truly appreciated.
@db1394 you should update your app and probably send them an email.
@Sustenance you look good to me! Congrats on your record, it is super impressive!

Judging by this, you still have an advantage. It also seems that, in your essays, you related your current work schedule to your interest in the major (at least somewhat?), so yes, I think you have a solid shot despite how difficult it would be to get in.
