Fall 2015 UCLA transfer students

@lindyk8‌ , no I actually meant a UC. Was worried about my GPA (though i gave a brief exp.). Tbh Im not very worried about my personal statement.
Also, what worries me is that 1. that i am international, 2. that I am from a UC and 3. I did not complete all strongly recc courses for my competitive major. Will all this really affect?

Re your missing two recommended courses, I didn’t address that because I don’t know how that plays out in your major. Others in the major can answer that better.

UCLA is much more open to UC to UC transfers, Berkeley is tougher on that, but still doable. So you are paying OOS tuition? Well, you’re in, so that’s half the battle, I guess.

@minxs2017 Hey by completed, do you mean completed at time of applying? or completed by Spring '15? I’d say you’re pretty much in with a 4.0 and everything “completed” as well as with those EC’s. Do you have any work experience? just curious. There isn’t anything bad about your app…

Is it bad if I accidentally deleted the email containing my application ID so i can check my status, or should I just wait for the decision email?

@wedoboop you can find it if you log back into the UC app website.

Major: math for teaching(for ucla) and math (for ucb) and Computer science (for the other campuses)
Applied campus: All UCs except for UCM UCSC
GPA: 3.73~3.76(by winter)
prereq: have taken all the classes my CC offered. Missing one which is not offered at my CC from assist.org. Will take left 4 major classes in spring
essay: I think it is nothing special
EC: work at school for one year. front counter staff

Are my chances okay? I know my GPA is pretty bad, but I am 23 and have lived on my own since I have been 18 and worked. My extracurriculars have been mainly acting and singing up until I was 21, and I grew up with my mom having a home day care-- do they take that into consideration?
I am so nervous.

GPA: 3.2 (fall grades included)
TAG: yes -UCSC
IGETC: One in progress (Philosophy)
Pre-requisites: Completed, except for Chemistry, which I am taking right now.
Major: Psychology
Applied: UCSB, UCLA, UCB, UCSC,UCCD, UCI
Acceptance:Pending

@Iyonsbot did you put that you help out with your grandmothers care in your app?

Do you have TAP?

No, I do not have TAP, and yes, I lightly covered that my grandma lived with my mom (single parent) and I for 12 years, and that my mom has stage four colon cancer (6 years) and is still a full time worker. Most of my application was about living by myself/how much I am devoted to school, looking forward to research, helping others, not being a smoker/drinker, growing up acting, that kind of stuff. I think I am crazy to think I have a chance… My personal statement is really solid, I am hoping they will somehow accept me off that. I am not sure how many 3.2 GPA’s they accept for impacted major’s though. I am taking Calculous 1, Intro to Chem, and Philosophy right now, my GPA will probably go down this semester. Blah, I really want UCLA. I can’t wait another month

What do you guys think, April 17th or April 24th for decisions?

so nervous

@Sustenance‌ The earlier the better! I believe it was on the 18th last year. Hopefully it will be around that day this year.

Hey everyone! I am excited and nervous as everyone to find out about UCLA. It has really been my dream for years now, and unfortunately I did not get in last year because of insufficient credits. But I took another year at my California community college and strengthened my application. I would appreciate any chancing/feedback that anyone has to offer!

Major: Communication Studies (Alt. Major: Chican@ Studies)
GPA : 3.77
Major GPA : 3.77
Major Prereqs : completed all available at my CC
IGETC : Yes, certified.
TAP : No
EC : I volunteer at a weeklong intensive leadership camp every summer, I am an active member in 3 clubs at my campus and I am Public Relations officer in 2 of those clubs, I worked at Target for a few months.
Essay : Wrote about my immigrant parents and my struggles with being a first generation college student but ultimately being very successful despite having limited resources. I would say 8/10.

I have been accepted to CSULA, Northridge, Cal Poly Slo and Pomona, San Diego State, Sac State, San Jose State, UC Riverside and UC Santa Barbara, still waiting for UC Davis, Berkeley and UCLA.

Hey everyone, I am super nervous about hearing back from UCLA. What do you think my chances of getting in are?
I’ll go ahead and tag @Cayton‌ since he seems to know a lot about the subject.

Major: Sociology
Alternative Major: Anthropology (BA)

Major Prereqs: Completed for Sociology and one in progress for anthro
IGETC certified: Yes
TAP: Yes

Active member of 2 clubs at my school

Your GPA is close to the average for admitted sociology majors last year. Combine that with your TAP certification, ECs, and essays, and I’d say you have a strong chance of getting in.

Even if you don’t get in under that major, you’ll be considered for anthropology thanks to TAP, which you will almost certainly get in under. Good luck!

@Cayton is this bringing back memories from last year?

hopefully it will be april 17th !!!

@luckie1367‌

Definitely, but thankfully, I don’t feel nervous this time around, although I’m sure this is stressing you and the others out quite a bit. It’s normal and expected.

It’ll get worse and then much better in due time. Just be patient.

So far I’m okay, but I’m sure I will be a mess when UCLA tells us what day they will be released.

I’m so grateful you are still around to offer your sage advice!
