@ek2019 right now they are doing GTs and very few non-GTs. I expect next Tuesday there will be a lot of rejections (since 4/21 “rejection day” has been moved due to Cornell being very backed up). The “waves” come out on Tuesdays mainly but really they can do it any day if they want.
@chaspion323 I’ve heard of this happening on a previous year but for Harvard applicants (more than 1). What the admissions office told the person who called is that it was a glitch in the system and that it wasn’t supposed to be available to view yet. They said that the result given in the portal was most likely correct, and once the applicants got the official email telling them to check their decision in the portal, the decision remained the same as the one during the glitch
You may want to call them and ask them if it was a glitch. Unfortunately, this is what happens when we check the decision portal before we should (they may have chosen the original date and later decided to release it with other decisions and that is why the date moved). Did you receive the email telling you to look at it? If you didn’t receive it then that would explain why they changed the date that original date wasn’t set in stone and they would only send out an email when the date is finalized. I’m sure this happens more often than not.
@transferind97 You know, I actually think it isn’t in random waves. I am certain they have a system, I don’t think they just pick random applications and start releasing the decisions in random order. I feel like they probably do the GTs first (because it is almost set in stone), then the applicants they want the most would be next, then the least likely applicants would get rejected (4/21 “rejection day”) and then in May we have the middle pool of applicants: the competitive and largest amount of applicants that need to be analyzed the most which is why decisions come out in batches.
It makes sense to me that the majority of applicants are fairly equally competitive so they require the most time, they would get the easiest to accept/reject first so they can focus on the big bulk of difficult choices. So an early decision could still not be a good sign. In a way, once you remain into May I think one can safely say you were at least competitive.
How many of you are applying for the second time this cycle? And if so, are you applying to the same school?
I applied freshman year
For everyone who hasn’t heard yet, when you log into your portal does it still list the application materials received and then say at the bottom your application has been forwarded to the committee for review? Also, how many CALS people on here have gotten their decision?
@transferind97 so you’re a GT applicant to CAS right?
I haven’t heard anything yet and the message about my application being forwarded for review remains at the bottom of the page.
Nope I’m not a gt. I got rejected freshman year. I’m applying to Engineering.
It certainly is a stressful cycle. Even more with all of us being so close to finals!!
All my application materials are accounted for. However, I don’t see the “application is being sent to review” message on my page. Does that message come up instantly once all the materials are received?
@greatg1920 It takes about a day or two.
I applied to CAS as a sociology major, not a GT.
@calvinwong I’m going for the same major in CAS! I hope we both make it!! (I’m also not a GT)
Hey I also applied for Sociology! Gluck guys!
@CCstudent1234 That’s awesome! Here’s to hoping we all get accepted! Fingers crossed
Did any of you apply to another school as a backup?
I applied to reaches lol no backup
@hp2trnsfr Fingers crossed for all of us! My portal has remained the same for around two weeks saying that it has been forwarded to be reviewed. Idk when I would hear back. you?
@calvinwong I’m totally in the dark. My application was forwarded for review around the 8th of this month and I’ve seen/heard no change since then. But it should be within the next few weeks! So exciting
