Fall 2016 Transfer Thread - Cornell University

The applications are reviewed by the admissions committee first and are then passed on to the professors who make the final decision. So it is a two stage process. Explains why the acceptance rate for engineering is so little.

I think it could make a difference. They would perhaps give more importance to technical capabilities as opposed to “all-roundedness”

@transferind97 I think this should not impact the admission rate because the number of transfers they take depend on vacancies.

damn all viewed by engineering professors :[

Does anyone have updates for ILR applicants? The wait is driving me crazy. I tried to reset my pin but there still isn’t one created for me. I don’t know if thats a good thing or a bad thing.

@hf1234 let’s hope we hear from Ian or someone at the ILR soon!

@socoutmia hopefully Ian haha! Btw did you receive anything from Cornell about when to check decisions or are you in the dark like me ?

@hf1234 I am in the dark as well. I check the portal religiously every day to see if anything has changed but nothing so far. I read somewhere earlier that someone got the email at 10 am last week to view his/her decision and it was not a GT transfer. So maybe we will hear something this Tuesday.

Does anyone know if the applications of CAS will be reviewed by professors?

@socoutmia @hf1234 I spoke with Ian maybe two days ago asking if I should send him my AP scores, and he said he would add it to my application. I’m assuming that means they’re still reviewing most of the ILR hopefuls since he don’t say “there’s no need at this time.”

@Brycifer oh man… That means a longer wait… Thanks for the update though!

So people should be expecting emails with instructions today/this evening/later tonight?

@2Brown4MyOwnGood I hope so! I don’t think I can wait till the end of May. I know the numbers aren’t in my favor but for some insane reason I have hope

You might not get the instructions tonight, but the decision could still come tomorrow.

@Luluoo Check out this article! I couldn’t find any information regarding the professors themselves reading the applications. You might find this interesting though.

guys… my decision is viewable tomorrow at 10AM. I found this out by trying to rest my pin

@hf1234 same here. I am so nervous, they said it’s better to get the decision on May

@lllleoooeooo I KNOW! I don’t know how to feel now. which school are you applying to btw?

I feel like mine will be a rejection because Ian would have called if it were an acceptance.

Was able to reset my pin, too…I’m terrified! I’m applying to CAS.
