I was rejected by Cornell Engineering as an incoming sophomore transfer yesterday as well. I am not upset, only resigned. Does anybody know if it is possible and/or appropriate to contact the admissions office and ask where my application fell weak? At the end of the day we are all just trying to become the best scholars we can be and since I paid the full fee for submitting my application I feel as though I deserve more closure than just a generic rejection letter.

Congratulations to all who were accepted! And for those of you who weren’t, it was most likely because of the large pool of applicants this year. There are many qualified applicants but they can only admit so many. We all worked hard and whatever happens, happens. Just because they reject you doesn’t mean you are not elite or anything.

@DivergentScholar You may if you want to. I don’t think anyone will stop you; however, I don’t know how it will turn out because I haven’t heard any stories about it. If you really want an answer, you can always call. Though, it could be a generic answer again. I guess wait until someone else has any tips on that.

Best to luck to the rest of us! It’s finals week for some like me… lol

So it says that they are unable to locate the PIN when I tried to reset it from “Forgot your PIN”, and my application status didn’t change? Does it mean my decision is not out yet? Or am I too stupid to find my decision.

@iamthetopgun if it doesn’t work it means your decision is not ready

Got a call about two hours ago from Ian. I’ll be headed to Cornell (ILR) in the fall!

Why can’t there be an Ian for engineering… :((

we need an Ian but for CAS…I think there are more of us! lol

Hey guys! I am a CAS hopeful transferring from Sarah Lawrence College, hopefully for the Government major. Congrats to all accepted students!

I’m an ILR applicant but they just got my final high school transcript today. I transferred high schools and one of my two schools hadn’t sent in and I didn’t know until recently. Will this hurt my chances?

Wait I’m trying to wrap my head around all of your posts.
So Ian calls people and tells them they are accepted. Ian is from ILR College. Does any other college have somebody like Ian who calls people who were accepted or does the rest of us just get acceptance/rejection e-mails? I’ve applied for CAS on the last possible day as a regular applicant from a cc in CA. Ian must love his job, making people happy everyday.

Only ILR has someone make those calls, @szafir

Ian is really nice… I hope there is an Ian in the engineering school so that I do not have to check my pin everyday.

I’m sorry I’m new here. What do you mean by checking your pin? @ibtes96

Hello guys! Help!
I am a CAS applicant and I received an email from CAS just now! Then require me to hand in the course descriptions of those courses related to the major I declared (all on history. I actually took a lot of courses about classical literature and fine arts. I took history courses too. And my intended major is history at Cornell)

Does anybody know how to deal with this one? I am really worried because some of my history courses are about very specific topics of East Asia, which are not provided at Cornell.

I am studying in Taiwan now and have never been to the US. I have no idea about this one. Could anyone teach me how to do it in the best way?

Thank you sooooo much… I guess this is crucial to my application.

@luluoo they are asking you to send them the class descriptions typically located in your college’s course catalog. I think mainly they want to know what those classes are about to measure the rigor of your transcript, especially if you are an international applicant.

I’m sure Cornell has a fax # you can send those to if it isn’t noted on that email. You may be able to even scan them and submit those pages online through their supplemental materials online form. I think it is best if you ask them which way is best in terms of speed

@Luluoo Dude, that’s an awesome sign! I have a feeling that you’re in!!

@Luluoo When did you submit your application and when was your application completed?

@Luluoo I got that same email and I am a CAS economics applicant. For reference I am a domestic applicant and I submitted my application on March 11th. I just emailed back with the descriptions found on my current university’s course catalog. Hope that helps!
