@tiramisu2 ok I gotcha. Yes Ian told me “letters” would be mailed out this Tuesday! I am so exited though!! Are you accepting?
Also, someone asked a while back for my stats, sorry this took so long, here they are:
School applied to: CAS
Major: Computer science
Decision: Accepted! (GT)
Highschool GPA: ~3.5ish
SAT: 2000
SAT IIs: abysmal
Highschool EC’s: really not thaaat standout.
College GPA: 4.0
EC’s: Hackathons, programming competitions, worked as a counselor for a Cornell summer camp, had a intern experience with a technology company, worked as a lab assistant in the bio department with some computer science applications, participated in a freshman research program.
Essays: thought I did a decent job on them, I think I showed how I could fit well in CAS.
@socoutmia Yeah, I think so!!!
I got in to CALS!
When did you hear @cameels97?
@cameels97 congrats. what major? are you a freshman?
I got a call! Environmental! yes I am a freshman!
I’m assuming CAS applicants don’t get calls then?
Has anyone heard back from Hotel Administration? I called the office a few days earlier and left a message but no one has called me back yet. I just need to finalize housing plans at my current school if I wasn’t accepted.
You will receive an email when your decision is ready.
I was rejected by Cornell on Tuesday… I had been depressed and for a few days and found out I was accepted by Columbia today…I think an acceptance from Columbia doesn’t mean that I am better than anyone who was rejected. A rejection from Cornell doesn’t mean that I am not as good as those who got accepted either. Columbia has been my first priority because I think the curriculum is a better fit for me. I got in just because I was a better fit, not because I was better than anyone.
Congrats to everyone who got accepted. For those who were rejected, I just wanna let you know that even if you don’t get accepted this time, sooner or latter you will get what’s the best for you. So, don’t lose hope in yourself. Best wishes to everyone here!
@vancehunyc I couldn’t agree more! It is all about fit! I am just honored that I got into Cornell because well… I didn’t apply anywhere else… but Cornell has been my dream all along! Some people will say bad stuff about certain school or another but it is all about the person who gets in and personal choices. And for those who do not get in, it is not the end. There is always grad school!
@socoutmia Congrats! Yeah I wanted to encourage those who were rejected because I know how it feels to be turned down. I almost lost hope and I think I wasn’t the only one.
And for those who get in, I am sure Cornell will be the perfect school for you guys and you will have the most wonderful experience there
For those that were accepted, when did you get your financial aid packages?
@ivybound5 not received yet… however they are working on it. I have been emailing them and keeping in touch. I would recommend doing the same and checking your to-do-list.
I am still wondering whether being asked for course descriptions by CAS a good sign or not…I submitted the document to the administrative assistant of CAS yesterday. And I still don’t know what it means.
@buddy92 Nothing new. We probably have to wait 2-3 more weeks.
@Luluoo Neither in my opinion. All Engineering applicants are required to submit a course description. IMHO it’s just standard practice that doesn’t have any bearing on your application (of course unless you refuse to turn in).
@hieule22 I agree wth u. But according to the thread, some are required to submit it and some are not. It’s wired.
@Luluoo Good luck with your application! I’m also an international applicant who’s awaiting a decision. The odds are statistically not in our favor but who knows?
