Fall 2016 Transfer Thread - Cornell University

@hieule22 thank u. Good luck to u too. Jus wait and see what will happen next Tuesday.

So have you guys been able to reset pin/ did u get an email for this upcoming Tuesday?

I think they may need course descriptions to see if we have completed proper lower level prerequisites and for transfer credit evaluation purpose

Hi guys, quick question. I applied to CAS (literature major) and just got an email asking for course descriptions. Is this part of the application process? Did anyone else applying to CAS get an email?

@wceline where are you applying from? And yeah I’ve read people here were asked for that :slight_smile:

@szafir small liberal arts college in New York State, but I’m an international student.

Oh hey I’m international too! @wceline yeah I think they just want to get some insight into what you’re classes were like. They didn’t ask me for that now I’m worried

@szafir I’m sure it’s ok :slight_smile: I just checked this thread and the fall 2015/2014 threads, and only a few CAS people were asked for their classes.

I searched the 2015 and 2014 threads and the thing about course descriptions by CAS is like this:
2015: a person said to have received the email in late April. No application result post from this person. His/her last response is on 5/19/2015, no notification.
2014: two people commented on the thread that they received the email asking for course descriptions. Both in late April. And they were all accepted. One in the early May and the other in late May.

So now there are several people (including me) received the email. It is probably not related to nationality because it includes both domestic and international applicants. Lets just see what will happen…

@Luluoo I just got a request for course descriptions too. I’m a domestic applicant, so it’s not related to that.

What major did you apply to?

@vancehunyc You got accepted to Columbia in NYC? I thought decisions weren’t supposed to come out there until Wednesday.

Is there a facebook page for fall 2016 transfer students?

To anyone who got the request for course descriptions, what did you send? The course descriptions on my university’s website are kind of sparse, and I was thinking to send the syllabi too.

@PDkia2019 there is, I just found it… https://www.facebook.com/groups/920738244671213/

@anonymous55 For reference I sent the content on the course catalog together with the English translation by myself. The person I contacted with responded very quickly with a short message. It seems that they don’t care about the content and it is just a regular process.
I checked the website of CAS and I believe the course credits will be re-evaluated if you are admitted. What you send now may not be that important.

I only sent the course descriptions. I asked the person if I should use pdf/doc format and he didn’t reply

Pdf is always preferred

I guess it’s probably too late for me to send a pdf…

@yellowplane

He applied to the School of General Studies at Columbia. They released decisions earlier.
