@transfergirl96 which is your current school?
@Brycifer what college were you accepted into at Cornell?
@hp2trnsfr ILR!
does anyone know what the facebook group for transfers is?
@Brycifer Congrats on ILR, Cornell ILR is my dream school! I was rejected but gonna try next year. Could you inform me that whether you got financial aid or did you apply? cuz I think applying Fa got me rejected maybe. Are you going to Cornell ILR?
@HenryTolal12 are you international? Cornell is need blind for u.s citizens and permanent residents.
Is ILR gonna make their decisions next week?
@HenryTolal12 I haven’t gotten my financial aid package yet - I get it Wednesday. Cornell sends out financial aid packages every Wednesday through email in the same way they send admissions decisions on Tuesday. This year was also especially competitive for ILR. More applicants than any other year in the past by a significant amount, and the same number of spots available. Apply for financial aid doesn’t do anything to your application unless you’re international. All the admissions committee received is everything you send to them via the common app (do essays, rec letters, etc), standardized scores, and letter from colleges or high schools with transcripts and that stuff. In fact, I actually made it very clear I was applying for aid in one of my essays because it was relevant to my story so it’s definitely not like they’re scared to give money if they have a good reason to (I’m actually expecting my financial aid to be crap because my father makes 4 times more than my mother and she’s my custodial parent so my father doesn’t contribute anything). I’m most likely going to Cornell. I’ve ruled out Johns Hopkins entirely. I get my Duke decision on the 12th, Stanford rejected me, but the only thing making me doubt going to Cornell is Penn.
If you apply next year you better have an extremely good reason for transferring. Junior year transfers they look at “okay they’ve had two years at another insitution, what are they doing to hold back this student’s potential.” You have to persuade them that there is something more to your passion hat your current school cannot satisfy. I’ll say this until I die strictly because of how successful I’ve been with college admissions this year. Your GPA is irrelevant as long as it’s above ~~3.6. Your essays are what separate you. A lot can be told from someone’s writing. For example, and I don’t mean this in a rude way, from your questions I can tell you haven’t done a lot of research about Cornell’s admissions process. The need-blind thing is extremely publicized because Cornell wants to draw the best of the best regardless of income. So my advice to you is learn so much about the school that you could basically write and essay over why ILR is more essential to you than your current university. I personally wrote about extremely specified programs that Cornell offers and how that specialization was necessary to me for X Y and Z reasons.
TLDR: Applying didn’t hurt you unless you’re international. Spend more time on your essays because they mean the most (assuming you’re not failing things in college).
@Brycifer are you a junior transfer?
@socoutmia Nope. Sophomore.
@Brycifer where are you transferring from?
@Brycifer and congrats!!!
@live4school1888 University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business. Stats are like a page back.
@Brycifer I feel old… If they take most of my credits which Ian said they would I’ll be a Junior… @-)
@socoutmia haha are you scheduled to be a junior anyway? Its just a part of getting to the end of your academic journey! You’re not old, just experienced.
@Brycifer I haven’t received my transfer credit eval because my final transcript is not ready yet… I’ll be visiting Ithaca on the 16th though and I will take my sealed transcript in. I should be, I have nearly all pre-reqs. I need to take stats and I am unsure about the foreign language because I have not taken any but I am a Spanish speaker… I’ll probably take Portuguese since I am already learning it… We will see.
@socoutmia I’ll be visiting around that time too! I’m excited. Do you know for what spans throughout the year they have tours? I have all of my core and weird requirements done except for stats. So I’m going to be taking nonstop ILR curriculum classes.
@Brycifer we might be in the same stats class lol!! I know they won’t be having any special event on that day (only going for one day because we’re heading to NYC). Are you done with both Econ? Ok we should start a thread for ILRies so people reading this are like WTH? Lol
@socoutmia Make a Facebook group for ILR! I’ll leave it up to you because I recently got Facebook, and idk how it works yet. Yes I’m done with both Econ!
What time do applicants normally receive an email to reset their pin?
