Hi everyone!
I usually never post on here. I made this account just to add to this thread. I have been following this thread for a while now. I am a rising sophomore and I applied to Cornell CHE from a state school. I have been accepted, and I had no chance of getting in. My GPA for high school was great 4.3 weighted and 4.0 unweighted. However, my college GPA was for my first semester was 3.2, and I got accepted. This was a complete shock so I figured I would tell you guys.
Still no email. I guess even if you call and ask them to push it they don’t care. Guess I’m going to my second choice, oh well. Goodluck everyone!
Thank you guys! I’m applying from UC Santa Barbara majoring in chemical engineering:)
Still hard to believe that I made it after receiving 5 rejections and 2 waitlists. Good luck everyone! The best is yet to come!
@Ortanul What a relief that must be for you. Congratulations! Would you mind sharing your stats?
I’m assuming no one has heard back from SHA. Man, maybe there are some people who didn’t join the forum but received word? My friend hasn’t heard anything yet either and he goes to my school
@Artixreed I haven’t seen any SHA result today including me.
I saw 3 ppl who did not get the result today.
Why is it taking forever! Every Tuesday morning I wake up with anticipation hoping I receive the magic email. I just want to know already! By the way new to the thread. I have been following but never posted. Congrats to all who made it.
@Atuin Tell me about it. The other university I’m waiting to hear a decision from notifies June/July. I don’t think I can wait that long to choose.
@ECEhopeful253
Here are my stats. Honestly I don’t feel that I am the most competent applicant so wish it will give people some hope:)
international student from UC Santa Barbara, majoring in Chemical Engineering
junior transfer applicant, applying for transferring mainly because I want to concentrate on environmental quality/energy/environmental engineering as a chemical engineer, while UCSB doesn’t offer electives/research opportunities in those areas
being accepted as a sophomore tho since some of the required courses are not provided in UCSB, but I definitely don’t mind spending one more year at Cornell
GPA: 4.00/4.00 when I submitted my application. I received my first A- last quarter in Ochem though, which lowered my GPA to 3.98/4.00 now.
Extracurriculars: 8/10, working as the learning assistant for the general chemistry lab in UCSB; other than that, mainly environment-related activities
Rec letter: 8/10, submitted 3, one from the staff in charge of the learning assistants, and the other two from the physics and writing professor
Essay: 7.5/10 - I don’t consider myself as a excellent writer, but at least I put a lot of time and work on them:)
SAT: 2000+, super low for an ivy I guess, which is the major reason that I decided to apply as a junior applicant. I guess it somewhat shows that standardized test doesn’t matter much at this stage
TOEFL: 112 - only required for international student
Have been rejected by Northwestern, Rice, Penn, JHU and Duke, put into waitlist by Vandy and Columbia beforehand. Received the first admission letter from WashU yesterday, and then the Cornell one this morning. Still waiting for Umich now.
So, keep hope alive guys!
Despite the phone call, I still don’t have my email o_o
Same here I called yesterday and she said I should have had it by late afternoon, I’m still waiting
@TransferBk24 I called yesterday and today and no one answer the phone when I ask to transfer to admission office of SHA
I’m international student and my I-20 just expired weeks ago since I graduated my college. I don’t have a lot of time to wait until decide the school, but still no answer
@TransferBk24 which school is the one that your said to put deposit on?
I think might be overlap with me since we are same major.
I applied 4 school
financial aid came out for me! WOW, it was cheaper than I thought
@HereToTransferr Congrat!! you are SHA applicant??
Ah no, I’m a CHE. And thanks !
Where do y’all plan on living? Any on-campus folk?
Then, I honestly think we may get ours on Tuesday. Last time the admissions spoke to one of the users here she said ‘all remaining’ decisions will be released by the end of the following week which was never followed through with. This makes me think they have many applicants they can’t decide on or they are releasing a small amount at a time instead of all at once.
I don’t even know if I should be worried or not at this point… Like, I don’t want to wait to be waitlisted and wait even more.
@HereToTransferr did your aid cover almost all expenses?
@socoutmia It was as much as the university I attend right now, if not a little cheaper!
