Fall 2016 Transfers

@2011SatinSTI thanks!

When did everyone submit their applications?

I’m applying to SEAS, but submitted my application just before the deadline =/

@transferme1 Sure thing!

Application submitted February 3rd, Columbian CAS for Physics, it’s my SO applying actually. I really don’t think you’ll have an issue despite submitting at the deadline. Maybe a slight delay, as in you might not get a decision in the first wave of admits, but that would be all.

@2011SatinSTI Thank you! The waiting period is truly the most difficult part of this process.

Has anyone heard back from the admissions?

@dingko

Very unlikely that anyone will hear anything until around 5-6pm today if a wave of acceptances does come out. Admissions departments typically release decisions at the end of the workday just after closing the office to avoid a flood of phone calls from rejected applicants.

Last year, GWU transfers found out around 6pm. It could be different this year, but that’s all we have to go off of.

I called GWU and they said to check this evening after 6 or sometime tomorrow. Only acceptances are rolling out. Good luck everyone!!

this is killing me… i’m so nervous to look. are we getting a notification via email or do we have to go on the GWU portal?

Well, despite what we heard, decisions may not be coming tonight.

On Twitter someone asked today and they were told decisions would start coming by the end of the week and that applicants would be notified with an email to check their portal.

Is this everyone’s first undergraduate degree ?

@transferme1 yes, for the most part this will be everyone’s first undergraduate degree. Not many transfers, especially domestic transfers, will have completed a degree before this.

So has anyone heard back from GW today with acceptances? my applicant portal looks the same as ever before…

Not yet…

According to the official twitter, “Over the next 2 days, our office will have a high volume of phone calls. Wait times may be longer than normal. We appreciate your patience!” Probably two or more days of wait

I think the first wave will be today, their responses on Twitter point to that, and it would explain a high volume of calls in the next two days. They tweeted a week ago that within a week decisions would roll out, and then confirmed that tweet earlier today.

I bet the first round hits today in the late afternoon/evening.

@2011SatinSTI Yeah, Hopefully Good luck all

Has anyone heard yet?

Nothing yet…they said within a week one week ago today, so if nothing comes out today then they will have pushed past what they originally told us.

Huge let down that they didn’t stick to what they had said to applicants over the phone and on twitter. I still think we see decisions by the end of the week, but it would have been nice if they had stuck to what they told applicants over the last week.

I went into their fin aid office on their campus yesterday and the woman who was working there said “yeah…GW is pretty inconsistent with their releases”

so go figure.

I spoke with a GW transfer student a few weeks ago who told me that he put down an enrollment deposit at another college because GW took so long to release his decision. (But clearly he did not end up going to the other college). However he also told me that GW has a fantastic program for transfer students, called the GW Transfer Bureau. It’s completely student run by other transfer students, and is a great way to meet new people and get involved in the GW community.
