FALL 2016 UCLA OFFICIAL TRANSFER THREAD

@Cheolf Dang. I would be so scared. I updated my TAU during march about a grade mistake, I wonder if that will reflect on me too…

@BigPanda Thank your for answer, My GPA is 4.0, but with the repeating Ds, Do I still get the chance to get in to UCLA or CAL?

@dkarbcs Thank you for replying, Will UCs still care about the Ds or just the As?

@jw77777 because you retook the classes and got A’s, plus you have a 4.0. you should be fine for ucla. Not sure about cal though. think it will be the same for cal

@Cheolf I just let them know about my misreport. Please keep me updated what happens!

@jw77777 hey how can you get D’s and still have a 4.0? Just wondering…

@Cheolf I’m a philosophy major & in the same position as you right now. I just reported a change to them and am waiting to hear back (oh the agony). I completed Logic & the one additional philosophy course for the major prereqs and on my app, I indicated that I was planning on taking Ethics. However, due to the class time conflicting with the rest of my academic schedule, I could not proceed with taking the course so I dropped it. So, thats where I am right now…and I’m incredibly nervous that I’ll get rescinded. I honestly don’t think its a big deal because I’m not failing anything at least and am still getting my letter of reciprocity without this class. Hopefully, we hear back from them soon with good news that we’re in the clear!

@Cheolf Crossing my finger for it to be good news!

I called Monday about dropping the course. They said that they wouldn’t recommend it for me to do. I just ended up talking to the professor about my situation and worked things out.

Did anyone receive an invite to the UCLA Bruin Bound Transfer Reception that’s being hosted in San Diego? There is very limited information on what exactly this will be besides the brief explanation UCLA gave in the email with the attached invite. It’s coincidentally being held on the same day Triton Day is occurring, in the same city too. Just wondering if this is something worth attending.

@tresbeauvoir - Are you transferring to UCLA from UCSD?

@pereaa I just retook the class and get As.

@blsUCtransfer ah I guess I was just hoping it wouldn’t be as competitive as i thought, a lot of pressure knowing that one slip up could be costly.

I have a question about provisions.

The contract notes that one must “Maintain the grade point average and complete the courses and number of units as reported in your application”.

Say I have a 3.7 right now, but after this semester, my GPA falls to 3.5-3.6.

Will they still take me?

@Edirol No, I’m transferring from UCR actually. I found it rather bizarre that the invite said “UCLA is coming to your town” considering that I’m neither going to school there or even originally from San Diego. Did no one else get this invite?

@tresbeauvoir
I got the email and I go to SDSU

@tresbeauvoir I got it as a San Diego resident.

Are undergrad and grad students given different housing selections?

So I read somewhere that your community college gpa transfers and becomes your Pre Major GPA once you start attending ucla, can anyone confirm this?
Also, I got admitted as Pre Econ, is it possible to switch into Pre Biz Econ? I read that you can’t switch into Biz from a different department, but since Econ is in the same department would it be possible?

@pereaa yes, undergrads and grad students live in different areas

How does housing exactly work? After applying for a singlet with just 11 meal plans (I have a strict diet so I would have my own food there), what happens? When do I find out what complex I’m put into? Do singles live on their own floor or is it randomized? Sorry I’m such a noob. @luckie1367 @Cayton @goldencub
