FALL 2016 UCLA OFFICIAL TRANSFER THREAD

@kamiture

Yes, you can search via a filter. Most of the jobs on there are hiring for both summer and fall, mainly fall because summer job deadlines have passed, I believe.

So when I spoke with UCLA they told me they prefer transcripts mailed physically. My school can do it electronically, and I want to do that because its more convenient. @Edirol How long did it take to have the checkmark next to the school once it was sent electronically?

I sent my transcripts last week electronically and they are both pending…

@UCLAFFF how do you access the work study jobs on myUCLA? do you have to SIR before accessing this? because i still haven’t SIR’d…

@boxlover - My CCC transcript was cleared after about a week and a half. I literally had it sent electronically the day I was accepted. I am very nervous about my other two transcripts getting there in time (had those sent 4/22 as well).
Does anyone know if we have a little leeway after June 1st if transcripts are still not received?

Can you only see if your transcripts have been received if you SIR? I SIR’d to UCI right off the bat, but have since considered UCLA, so I sent my transcript. I got an email saying my CC had sent it successfully, but it does not display any information on MyUCLA about it.

@Edirol by cleared do you mean the time it took to change from pending to received? Mine has been pending for a while now.

@Oldhopeful - Yes, from pending to received. I figured if my transcript from Santa Monica College was sent electronically then UCLA wouldn’t need terribly long to receive it.
Did you send yours electronically?
Also, if you ever need another old fogey to hang out with on campus, I’m your (wo)man!

Hey does anyone know if UCLA has grade deflation? And how does it compare to UC Berkeley in terms of grade deflation? Im so nervous making the transition into a 4-year university.

@Edirol Did you submit IGETC with it, or will you send that separately? Also, did you manually enter the UCLA address?

@boxlover - I had IGETC sent separately. I didn’t have the option of entering in the electronic UCLA address for my transcript, the website ( Transcript Plus) did that for me.

My transcript says pending and has the following note: A preliminary transcript has been received from SANTA MONICA COLL . A final transcript is still required.

By final transcript they mean the one I send in June with my spring grades right?

Thanks guys! So we need to know what classes and what session we’re enrolling in before we can apply for summer financial aid, correct?

Hi guys, does anyone’s Provisional Award Letter say that it’s unavailable or is it just me?

Will it be too late for me to send in my transcript mid-May? I’m coming from a UC btw. It seems like everyone who sent theirs already is freaking out that it won’t be received on time. Also, side note: has anyone heard anything (good, bad, or neutral) about the public affairs minor at UCLA? I’m thinking about picking it up as a minor to complement my philosophy major since it seems like the closest I can get to a political science or economic minor (which are both only offered as majors unfortunately).

Formally declined my admission. Good luck to all the waitlisters!

@Edirol I sent mine by mail, my school doesn’t have the option of doing it electronically. That’s too fancy for us, haha. It took about a week and a half from the day I sent them out to change to pending and it’s been pending since. It does say it’s a preliminary transcript and that a final one is still due though, but I’m assuming that’s just the one with my spring grades it’s referring to.

Haha, yes! We can get some warm milk and chill out old people style, complain about the youths and declare our disgust for their rock & roll music. Did you get the email for us “non traditional” students today?

Anyone have any idea why UCLA or any UC for that matter asks for Additional Financial Information after submitting FAFSA? Is it because you missed something when filing the FAFSA or they need additional proof of something suspicious looking on your app? This is the first time an AFI has been requested from me, so I’m a little confused as to why that is the case this time around.

@goldencub Where are you transferring to then?? and why did you decide so?

@Oldhopeful - Haha, I’ll be sure to make “Get off My Lawn!” t-shirts for us!
I did get that email yesterday and loved how the woman who wrote it said she attended UCLA at 37. I wish there could be a specific event for non-traditional students during new student orientation.

@troubledcollegestudent - Mine says the same thing. I already filled out FAFSA documents months ago, too.

@goldencub - You headed to UCB?
