FALL 2016 UCLA OFFICIAL TRANSFER THREAD

@jg62356

Finish as strong as possible, report your grades and welcome to the bruin community. You will be fine.

Guys, for summer housing they matched me with a 19y/o that drinks and wants to have overnight guests over (not necessarily of the same gender). Keep in mind, Im a pre-med who has ocpd (obsessive compulsive personality disorder, I need to have everything in my life perfectly and under control. I hate when people drink around me and I cant have underage drinking or ANYTHING on my record).

Did you submit a pdf of your transcript to ucla? Im sending official transcripts and its saying pdf

@grimmghost Tough luck for your roommate. You don’t have to allow any of that (they’re not 21, so right away there goes the alcohol). See A.1 & A.8

https://reslife.ucla.edu/regulations

“Residents may accommodate overnight guests, no more than four (4) nights per month, pending prior arrangements with their roommate(s).”

You have the power; enforce it.

It depends a lot on what the provisional says. While it is unlikely, I know someone who got rescinded from UCLA for a C grade in a non-major course where the provisional noted the course needed to be a B. There may have been other issues which made them sticklers. (It was the required stats course BTW.)

So, while rare, it does happen. I would say if the provisional specifically notes that a certain course be a B, you should not assume anything if you get a C. There’s a reason they put it in the provisional, a reason that might not be clear.

Do we still have to update our grades on the UC application or do we just send in our final transcripts?

@UCLAFFF Do you know any cases of rescinding at UCLA if we made a mistake on our application (a misreport of grade) but notified them thru TAU before we were admitted?

Any anthro majors? Still deciding between Cal and UCLA for anthropology (concentration in sociocultural). Anyone have an opinion?

@boxlover

No, sorry.

But I do know, however, that this type of accident can lead to expulsion. Every year, there is at least one student (transfer or freshman) that is close to graduating from the university and the school found out they didn’t report a specific course (due to that student intentionally hiding it or “forgetting” they took the course). As a result, the student(s) is/are removed from the school immediately.

Understand you are responsible for the integrity of your application, and if you forget to update something by accident, you are at fault.

on MyUCLA, my transcript went from a checkmark to a pending sign. and now it says “A preliminary transcript has been received from CCC . A final transcript is still required.” Does that mean they received my first one, and is now waiting for the final one that is due before July 1?

@boxlover

Yes, they are talking about your transcripts through spring semester and summer (if you decide to take summer).

@UCLAFFF How come they dont find out for so long? I already called admissions twice and told me that it was ok, because I let them know before they started reviewing the application. Im gonna take there word for it and assume that I am fine :frowning:

@boxlover

You are in a different situation, you will be fine. You have done everything possible to bring attention to your situation. Please stop stressing, you are stressing me out.

Did anyone click yes for the Living Learning Community Transfer Experience option? I’m not sure whether it’s worth it or not since I haven’t heard too much about it other than what is written on the website. It would be nice to know if it’s in some way a positive or one of those things that doesn’t matter too much if you choose or not.

Hi Guys I need your help!

So I was suppose to take 5 classes this quarter to make 93 units, but only took 4. I reported these changes back in April 3rd, and they got back to me saying they will email me with any other questions. And 3 weeks later, I was admitted to UCLA.

But that leaves me with only 89 units before transferring, im planning to take summer, but I heard thats not transferrable. I’m freaking out…why did they still accept me?

@lilahkaya they will take summer units. One or more of your courses may have been UC transferable, that you didn’t know.

I remember something similar happening last year. From what I remember, UCLA realized their error AFTER admitting the student, but because the error was ucla’s not the student’s, the admission decision stood and they still were accepted.

@Happy2Help So i called them today and they told me to submit my course change update. I’m so scared, i can barely eat…The courses I dropped are electives,and I fulfilled all my major requirements and areas of igetc. I’m just 1 QUARTER unit short.

@lilahkaya you knew you’d be at 89 so I suggest you sign up for a summer transferable course, pay, and send them proof that you’re registered - your receipt for payment that includes the class info. I’m so sorry, they may still rescind you. It seems they accepted you on your planned units and didn’t catch your 4/3 update.

I feel like I’m not using the DARS site correctly. Where exactly would it show that my IGETC has been received?

We need our IGETC certified? Wouldn’t that just be evident when looking at the transcript?
