@andrewjchang I’ve got all A’s so far too, but our GPA’s don’t even transfer over with us, so what’s the point? My mom told me that grad schools look at your cc GPA, but I’ve never heard anyone else say that.
@doihaveashot2016 At least for major-related coursework, doing poorly can only hurt your grad school application. Always do your best, that’s my feeling
Thats right, I must pursue grad school, so I should try my best.
Woah our CC gpa doesnt transfer over? I had no idea
Is that right? Our GPAs don’t transfer? I didn’t know that. Wow.
@lexluther96 Each institution tracks your GPA separately; that’s why you have to send separate transcripts for each college you’ve attended. No such thing as a master transcript per se xD
They don’t transfer over because they aren’t UC gpa’s. Your GPA starts from zero once you start university. The purpose of your college GPA is to make you competitive or to meet admission criteria for your major. But keep it up you guys!!! Halfway through the semester, don’t lose your UC admissions by dropping your GPA
Parent of a 2016 grad (who transferred in 2014) here… we had several exceptional transfers in this class, including one who transferred and graduated after only one full year at UCLA.
This is no time to slack off. What if you get accepted or wait listed next week, and your admission contract says – and there will be conditions – that you must get Bs in your remaining classes or your acceptance may be rescinded? Remember, you’re competing against everyone else who may have more CCC units, better grades, etc. and I’m sure they’re doing everything they possibly can to gain admission. You should too.
So keep at it and work hard. You need to finish strong.
Good luck to all of you.
ETA about GPA, that’s correct, your UC GPA is separate. When you apply for grad school, all grades will be taken into consideration.
I just realized that it’s next Friday…
@darkarchang3l Yeah, right! I’m freakin’ ouuuut. However, I heard that regents invites might go out this Friday. They don’t guarantee admission, but they’re usually a strong indicator. However, they only go to a select few transfers. They’re meant for the top like 3% of applicants, and I think most of them go to freshmen.
@lexluther96 yeaaa glad i just need to worry about regular admissions lol
but still like hnnnnnnnnnggggghhhhhhhhhhh (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
It’s so hard to find anything on Cognitive Science transfer rates. Did anybody here apply as Cogsci?
@darkarchang3l omg next friday feels so far away. ლ(ಠ益ಠლ)
@LbcctoUCLA17 https://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/infocenter/transfers-major
type in cognitive science under major names and it will give you the statistics for each school that offers it as a major
the transferitis is so real. I’m getting a C in one of my classes right now… probably should try to fix that…
saying it’s “next friday” makes it sound so soon… omg shit’s getting real this is about to happen
I’m also suffering from transferitis! I’ve always been on top of things, but I’m just so ready to leave my cc and 2 of my professors are so impossibly boring, it’s not helping. I’m gonna continue to push through though. Best of luck to everyone over the next couple weeks.
is there any african american studies people in this thread it seems like I’m the only one idk that the case my chances might seem good
My spring break is next week. Going to spend the time wisely like hyperventilating through a brown paper bag.
I’m just ready for all this to be over, tbh. I’m exhausted.
@rainbubble hahaha same, I just want the decisions to come out already so I can either get super motivated or super sad. (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ
