Confessions of an Application Reader
Lifting the Veil on the Holistic Process at the University of California, Berkeley
(in case the link doesn’t show)
I read this a while ago and found it pretty informative and interesting. Hopefully it gives you guys a better perspective on this topic.
@williamyang wow, that was a really great read! I especially like how the author mentioned how UCs should be more transparent of what exactly they’re looking for to help better students and their families. UC apps seem to be straight forward, but it does get tricky. For instance, there’s all these college admissions services that people offer who claim they are experts on how to craft the perfect app.
Heard the prerecorded message…oh man…4/26! I was pinning on 4/21!
Hoping it’s a late April Fool’s joke haha. Seems so strange to release decisions on Wednesday
@InTheNightSky95 SAME! For some reason I thought it would be better to save money and apply to the schools I’d actually consider going to. Now I wonder if I should have paid the money just so I would have some piece of mind at this moment.
Still can’t find any reasons why they release the decision on 26th. It is against their tradition + they obviously know we all are waiting for 21th and desperate to see the decision. There is no f****ing reason for 26th !!! omg sorry for my language. I am so done… you know…
I guess 26th wednesday makes kind of sense since UCI had their large batch out yeserday and UCLA never actually stated when they will be releasing their decision but we all assumed it be 21st im kinda glad cuz if i dont get in to UCLA, i only have to wait two more days to see how Berkeley comes out. Haha
We all expected it to be the week before Berkeley, since it’s always been like that. At least last year. Or maybe they’re re-reading applications to exclude few people due to large amount of pools D:
I forgot about this when I called and I’m in class rn, but when you guys called did they say ON or BY the 26th. I thought I could handle a couple extra days, but the fact that we could’ve started counting down today is like :((
Honestly the 26th makes a lot of sense because it hasn’t always been tradition for UCLA to release decisions a week before Berkeley. When my sister was transferring in 2014 she found out about UCLA the day before Cal
@Orangered123 when I rationalized this to myself, I wondered why I should pay to apply somewhere I really didn’t see myself attending. But now I’m wondering if nowhere is better than anywhere lol
I was able to create a MyUCLA account using my UID (University ID number) - most people don’t get a UID and instead create an account using a different number. I’m hoping this is a positive indicator?
