Lol “don’t make enemies who hate you that much”?!?
Ummmm… some people are straight crazy
@lostar I totally feel you. When I found some info the other day and thought “oh shit, there’s no way they’ll accept me” I actually felt so much relief that I finally knew, and I could get started on a backup plan. When I talked to the art admissions lady and she told me what I found wasn’t a requirement, all of the anxiety came back. Now I’m terrified lol. Somehow losing hope helped, now I have it back and it sucks. It’s crazy lol
After following along with this thread for way too long I decided I finally wanted to join in :)>- I can’t even tell you how much better its made me feel to know I’m not alone in this anxiety!!
@InTheNightSky95 Same. I was like it’s probably not worth applying if I don’t want to go. Tbh, though my parents would probably want me out and though almost any calculation including college happiness, it makes sense for me to go to the best school that accepts me I currently would prefer just waiting another year so I could go to my dream school.
This might be blasphemy to say on this thread, but I’ll take the risk since nobody’s gotten in yet.
At the same time I, really, really, really regret not applying to USC. Though UC Davis and other schools probably are more worth their $, I fell in love with the campus and everything about the place. I just couldn’t justify the cost of the school, but staying another year vs paying 60k more on the whole for USC, the opportunity cost comes down more on the side of USC. So that’s one of my biggest regrets as of now. Crossing my fingers that Cal accepts me so I don’t have to worry about all these regrets though.
half of my friends went to USC and they’re no better off than my friends that went to UC
USC has a great culture for networking (especially in the film industry), but so does UCLA and the cost is pretty much unjustifiable if you’re not riding on your parent’s dollar for the next 5 to ten years when those student loans come out to get ya
I’m glad I didn’t apply to USC because if I didn’t get into UCLA I’d be too tempted to attend USC and the cost would drown me.
UCI is close enough to LA to get the lifestyle if that’s a priority for you
I think I withdrew my apps from UCI.
This weekend is going to drag on, I know it. Thank god for work though, at least it’s giving me something to do… :-w
@lynammo If you paid the application fee why bother withdrawing?
@Orangered123 so other people could get a spot rather than being waitlisted and me forgetting to decline the offer.
@LynAmmo not all heroes wear capes.
@lostar I got y’all
@FaithGraceUC UCI is not close to LA to get the vibe. If you wanted to drive to H-Wood, DTLA, or UCLA it would take you at least an hour and some change. Living in socal my whole life, there is not much relation between OC area and LA. UCI would have a lot more of a UCSD vibe than a UCLA/USC vibe.
Lol, yeah, I live in LA rn. My friends and I go to Anaheim pretty regularly which isn’t that far. I’d say it’s not easy, but if you just have to be within driving to LA it’s a possibility.
Honestly, tho, I’d do UCSB (and plan on that if I don’t get into UCLA) because it’s about an hour and an half drive but the city itself is also nice
Anyone knows among UCB and UCLA which one has better architecture undergraduate program?it seems like UCLA is harder to get in, but honestly I don’t think their program is better than UCB…I didn’t even know they had architecture program before I applied, and there is almost no major prep courses…However, they do require creative works which UCB don’t.
@Orangered123 I had the same thoughts. but unfortunately I can’t wait another year + not a lot of schools explicitly have my major. It’s definitely time for me to leave CC, and considering I already hate it here, I don’t have the heart to continue (plus I lose priority registration status this year). I did apply to USC though, for many of the reasons you stated. There’s a chance I won’t get into either one this year, but that’s the consequence of the gamble I took.
I’m in the same boat. I live in Long Beach right now and plan on going to UCSB (unless I get into UCB/UCLA). You have to have a lot of motivation to make those drives if you live in heart of OC to get to anywhere worth going to in LA & vice versa.
@InTheNightSky95 I hope both of our gambles pay off. Only a couple more days of waiting.
At everyone, what ice cream are people going to be eating next week?
Mint and chip for sure.
