Awesome! Thank you! Good luck everyone! @doihaveashot2016
I have a 3.27 GPA, I was pretty much on my death bed in highschool so I didn’t have any ECs (unless we count my work experience as at Abercrombie lol). I worked with Neema Barnette at a UCLA acting program after high school. I have no resume, but super strong essays, letters of rec, personal statements, and creative sample so…I’m hoping they can overlook my lack of ECs and low GPA. @uclatft what about you?
did anyone get through to an actual person when they called? like is there a reason for pushing the date back?
I was on hold for almost 15 minutes and gave up @MiniGrace11
@MiniGrace11 Oh wow! I’m sorry to hear about that in high school, although they will probably count that as good life experience, which is one of their top priorities. GPA doesn’t matter much for tft I’ve heard. and they are all about the writing so you’re most likely to get in with such strong letters! I know that about half of the accepted class, even though that’s like 8 people, get automatically accepted without an interview. and the fact you worked with UCLA before and took a program there probably looks great. I have a 4.0gpa and have worked on a few independent projects, films, and PA for a couple things but nothing professional. I grew up making a lot of music videos and youtube videos which I basically just said that as experience. I don’t think my letters of rec were super strong, but I feel like my essays showed originality - I always wanted to be a director but lost track in high school and became a rebel and always getting grounded, then I took a year off after high school and lived in Italy and worked there and travelled, then I came back and moved to LA to pursue my goals, but my boyfriend/best friend of 5 years passed away which I wrote about for the biggest challenge essay. So I’m hoping some of those things will stand out enough from everyone else.
I think it’s weird that they would move it to the 26th when bruin transfer day is on the 13th – giving people only two weeks about to get plane tickets and make arrangements, especially to request off work that is pretty late notice.
@lostar thanks for clearing that up. so no one has been successful in this endeavor yet?
Why would they care about our schedule?i dont think they care haha plenty of people will get to bruin day no matter what. Maybe its the new essay format this year, or they just dont have spot
@doihaveashot2016 thanks for trying though! they’re probably either getting a ton of calls or ignoring everyone on purpose
@uclatft really??? how many people get interviews? So they’re just for like borderline applicants?
Hey! I’m a college counselor and your app looks pretty strong. A bit worried that all of your extra curriculars listed are from high school. But 38% of transfers that apply as sociology with a similar GPA as you were admitted last year! Decent odds

UPDATE: I GOT A HOLD OF A REAL LIVE HUMAN BEING (from the TFT department but still.) he agreed that it was odd for them to release on a Wednesday because traditionally, it is a Friday! he said with the confusion going on, we should have a decision by the end of the day TODAY but he does not know 100% because of this weird thing the admissions is saying about the 26th. He said that it most likely would be tonight, but said he can’t make any promises.
Yes! My bad that opinion was for @5HisLife forgot to tag
@mbruin92 Hey! Do you have any thoughts how UCLA look at non traditional applicants?
@MiniGrace11 They told me that they were interviewing 20 students when I went in - and it’s shown that every year they accept 15 freshman and 15 transfers into tft. But they had current tft students at the interview waiting room to help answer questions and two of them said that they never got an interview last year, just an acceptance letter.
I give up… and I already ate the icecream I bought for tonight…
Whatttt @MiniGrace11 we might hear back today???
@masechka1988 it becomes less about extra curriculars and more about professional experiences and goals. I’m not sure how heavily they weigh your GPA. (This is all assuming you are a non traditional student for being older in age)
@MiniGrace11 OMG THANK YOU FROM ALL OF US :x
