UPDATED Sat 30 May

Ok, hebegebe - that’s fair. Let’s hope they find a way to get it done.

U. Michigan’s Pres. Mark Schlissel seems to be trying hard - perhaps despite his state’s erratic governor - to signal that he and the U-M regents will ensure U-M opens. Pres. Schlissel told CNBC today he’s “optimistic,” which I guess is as close to a stake in the ground as can be expected given where he sits.

So we can probably add U. of Michigan to the “definitely” list, as well as Boston College, Michigan State, Northeastern, Susquehanna, and Quinnipiac.

Ohio State “plans to resume in-person classes for the autumn semester.”

https://news.osu.edu/ohio-state-announces-plans-for-an-autumn-semester-return-to-campuses/

Stanford plans in person classes with early start https://healthalerts.stanford.edu/covid-19/2020/06/03/a-message-from-president-marc-tessier-lavigne-and-provost-persis-drell-on-academic-planning-for-the-fall-quarter-and-2020-21-academic-year/

They are only bringing half of the undergrads back at a time, so you get 2 quarters on campus and a third completely online (for the same tuition, naturally) Even on-campus classes are promised to be heavily online (again, for the same tuition). I have a Ph.D. student (so I am a zero-pay parent) there who is slightly but not tremendously affected by this, but I would have serious reservations this scenario if I were the parent of a full-pay undergrad.

Thank you, BuckeyeMWDSG, seal16 and planet.

Six Harvard graduate school will be only online https://www.bostonglobe.com/2020/06/03/metro/harvards-education-school-will-go-fully-online/

There was an announcement earlier that Harvard undergrads could be housed in graduate housing to increase distancing if undergrads are called onto campus. We were wondering who was going to displaced, and this announcement provides the space.

And on a zoom call earlier this week, they stated that the intent was to bring undergraduate students onto campus, but that students should expect most classes to be online.

Final decision in mid-July.
