@Consolation Do you have a direction you have preferred? Due to the direction we travel from, I realized I’ve only done it in one direction - Lincoln to Conway. I think the Lincoln side is much prettier so perhaps saving that for last would actually be better.
I prefer emerging into small-town rural NH than the Conway mess, so I’d agree.
Agree. Emerging into the Conway mess is always a traffic back up until you get to the Westside Rd.
But going towards Lincoln, you would have to start in Conway…,so you get it one way or the other.
Some also depends on your end destination. We were going to Bartlett…,so we sort of had to head towards Conway!
@HImom how was your drive today?
We drove from Conway to Lincoln and then had late lunch and then went back along the same lovely highway and returned to Portland. Saw many lovely trees but sadly not many reds—lots of yellow and orange.
Sadly no time to get to Mt WA hotel.
@HImom - we also saw lots of yellows, oranges and pinky reds, but not too many of the brilliant reds on our drives through the area last week.
The colors that leaves turn is a product of science and weather. Red especially can be a result of weather conditions - the warmer fall may leave less red to develop.
Except that not all trees facing the same local weather turn the same colors. It can be the type of tree, too. Eg, the Colorado birches that turn vibrant yellow.
Yes, of course tree variety matters. But not ONLY tree variety - which some people think is the case.
Right. Lots of maples here and various colors.
At this point, we revel in whatever trees are beautiful. And lol, hope fall last long and spring comes soon.
We did bring home some colds from the cold weather. :-(. Ah well, we don’t do 40 and below so well.
