Yes, in Maine, there are the full spectrum of leaves—green, yellow, orange and red. I’m happy we haven’t missed our ant the carriage ride (drawn by horses) was lovely with multi-hued leaves in all directions. We were afraid of artiving too late but it’s just lovely now and we were able to take one of the last carriage rides of the season! They’re packing up the horses and taking them elsewhere until the season begins again.
Yesterday was lovely and blue skies and sunny. Today is wet and drizzly but nice and brisk! Sure glad my jacket kept me warm and dry!
According to the leaf report, colors have not yet changed on the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina. Maybe in a week or even 2 we can tear ourselves away for a day trip to the BRP, which is doable from here.
Still a lot of green in northern CT as well. They keep saying this is supposed to be a gorgeous fall…but, it’s going to snow before that happens at the rate we are going.
I saw pics from my friend outside Bangor and they sure beat the onesies I post on fb. A swath of brilliant red among many trees. But taken prior to this week.
The point is to enjoy whatever and all of it. We all ooh ane ahh over the best of them.
I have taken many photos but can’t figure out how to post on my phone. I think I need to try using a laptop to change avatar photo. Today was cool in 40s and sunny with windy gusts. We went on a nice bus tour. Resting up now and going out for dinner.
So far, have had very nice B&B beeakfasts. Tasty and different. We did buy local cider from nearby market bit is yummy! Loved the 1-hour carriage ride on the carriage road built by Rockefeller. The horses were very calm and pulled the wagon with 10 people and 2 drivers
There were some nice leaves en route to Schoodic Peninsula and Point. We got some lovely photos of the sun off the water before the slushy freezing rain. At Schoodic itself, mostly evergreens but also water and rocks and waves.
I want to thank all the Maine posters who have offered suggestions on this thread and the other Maine vacation thread! DH and I are heading up tomorrow for an bonus week vacation before he starts a new job! We spent several of our first anniversaries in the Phippsburg area and are excited to explore other areas this time.
We will spend two nights in Portland, two in Lincolnville and two in Bar Harbor. Your suggestions were so helpful in planning out locations and ideas of things to do. We aren’t expecting to have great fall colors but that’s fine. We may be able to make it to the Camden Snowbowl for a Sunday chairlift. It would be fun as our kids learned to ski at their sister mountain, Ragged. I’m really looking forward to some light hiking and photography ops! And DH is excited that I booked a brewery tour at Allagash as it is one of his favorite beers! I’ve got some dinner reservations in Portland and at the Youngstown Inn but other than those were just playing things as they go.
