Fall transfer or spring transfer?

Hey everyone! I’m a current college student really interested in applying to transfer to Wesleyan, either for this spring semester or the next fall 2017 semester.

I had a few questions, and I would really appreciate all of your input:

  • Historically, does Wesleyan accept more students for fall semester applicants or spring semester applicants?
  • Is it important that I apply once -- that is, can I just count on applying spring, and applying again in the fall if I get rejected? Or (if this looks bad), is it a better strategy to wait and apply later, boosting my cGPA throughout this upcoming semester?
  • If it is important that I apply once, should I apply this fall with a slightly lower GPA (because if I get accepted, I can adjust faster and ensure credits) or wait another semester to apply for that higher GPA?

Thank you so much!

  1. All schools accept more kids in the fall transfer window, but that is also because they have more spots open. At the same time, there will be more applicants. Spring will have fewer spots available but less applicants.
  2. You can't apply for the spring and then in the fall if you are rejected. You'd have to wait a full year until you can apply again.
  3. You can only apply once a year. Whether you should apply in the fall or spring up to you and your situation at your current school.
