I found myself with some unexpected time to travel this month. I can’t decide where to go. Living in L.A. I think I’d like to experience some fall weather and color. I’ve done New England’s fall foliage. Any thoughts?

The fall colors in much of the midwest are at peak this week. Weather is turning cool this weekend too.

North Carolina and Virginia are beautiful this time of year!

Oregon or Washington coast, or the Willamette Valley region of Oregon, especially if you like wine.

Two yrs ago we went to Charleston and Asheville. The Asheville area had absolutely gorgeous foliage. I know we went sometime in October.

How about Colorado? You can see the aspens changing colors (though check first to on the specific date) and if you feel like experiencing snow you may be able to find it in the right spot in the mountains there.

Calaveras county and mother lode…drive highway 49…

^^ But watch out for the jumping frogs.

^^^Good one!

Go to Lake Tahoe! It’s close. You can see the salmon run at Taylor Creek in South Lake Tahoe and stay at Camp Richardson. It’s right on the lake. You could also stay at Sorenson resort in Hope Valley ( close to South Lake Tahoe) and see all the trees changing color.

If I was in LA and had a few days off I’d go to Catalina, that’s what I would do. I would go to Long Beach and take a boat across the channel and enjoy a place with few cars, nice weather, good food, lovely scenery …lots of colorful tiles.
