so after trying out cs, i want to just do chemical engineering. the thing is, i can’t take chem 4a next semester since they only offer 4b. but starting to take 4a next year would put me an entire year behind…is it possible to take 4b before 4a? does 4b build on 4a? what can i do to catch up? i would overload on credits if i COULD but the chem4a-4b series is totally in the way…
help?

Take the Chem 4A equivalent at Berkeley Community College next semester (yes, you can do that). Just make sure to check on assist.org if the course transfers. Then, you can either take Chem 4B over the summer (at Berkeley or another CC or uni), or, you can take 4B in the fall (if they offer it).

I wouldn’t take it at Berkeley Community College, I would try to take it at Diablo Valley College. You need to make sure you are allowed to do that during the regular year, since it’s not summer session. You may need some kind of permission.

Slicmlic, how can the OP take a course at a local CC? I always thought Berkeley doesn’t allow concurrent enrollment.

what can they do to prevent you from enrolling? you enroll separately, pay your fees, take the classes, and submit your transcripts for transfer credit. its as simple as that

Turns out that it’s not that simple.

Refer to [Enrolling Elsewhere](http://ls-advise.berkeley.edu/faq/elsewhere.html)
I’m not sure if this is a matter of a simple signature or a long process, but there it is. Hope it helps!
