Fantasy Baseball Trade

What do you guys think of Lance Berkman + Jason Marquis + Cliff Floyd for Garciaparra + Nick Johnson + Tom Glavine + Scott Olson? He drop Escobar.

I have the latter players. You think I’m getting a good deal?

My team:
B. McCann
N. Johnson
T. Iguchi
H. Blalock
M. Young
I. Suzuki
R. Ibañez
Re. Johnson
M. Teixeira
N. Garciaparra
DL H. Matsui

Pitching
T. Glavine, D. Lowe, T. Jones, Ma. Rivera, M. Prior, Jo. Johnson, S. Olsen, C. Sabathia, B. Sheets, J. Francis, J. Jennings

His team:

Ra. Hernández
L. Berkman
M. Giles
A. Ramírez
O. Cabrera
C. Patterson
A. Kearns
C. Floyd
M. Cameron
E. Byrnes
DL D. Lee
DL J. Kent

Pitching
V. Padilla
F. García
B. Ryan
A. Benítez
J. Borowski
T. Hudson
J. Marquis
N. Robertson
J. Smoltz
K. Escobar

I have made one trade with him before. I sent him Berkman + Benitez and I got Michael Young, Mariano Rivera, and Marquis.

I’d do it in a heartbeat. Normar has fallen dramatically and still is a health concern. Olsen is still a rookie, and does play for the Marlins. So the trade is essentially Lance Berkman, Jason Marquis, Cliff Floyd for Nick Johnson, Tom Glavine. Berkman is a top 10 fantasy hitter this year, Marquis is not as bad as you think. If you take away 1 game he had where he gave up 15 earned runs, his ERA would be under 4. He is still a good pitcher. Cliff Floyd is hitting very well this half, and I think it will continue. Glavine is a great pitcher, but you are getting much more in return.

Ok. I’m going to accept it. Anyone else have any last minute thoughts?

Its good, so was is a terrible idea to drop Ken Griffey Jr. For Quentin for ARI?

I have accepted. Now, who should I pick up for pitching? I think Escobar isn’t a bad option.

Who’s available in your league?

(and Marquis really is as bad he looks…idiot gave up 12 and 13 Earned runs in 10 innings…what is that??)

Nothing good. All the starters have at least a 4 ERA…and their WHIPS aren’t all that great.

forget it then…most of the decent pitchers already got picked up

you have to look for young talent…no name guys who are pitching well…gotta find em b4 they become prominent starters…that’s how you get jered weaver/jon lester types

i might pick up matt morris or billingsley or anthony reyes. the latter 2 are nonamers that do have potential…but have been a lil shaky

morris is past his prime…reyes and billingsley are two good prospects

good relievers are helpful too

relievers don’t do much in my league…they dont give you enough inning to affect ERA or WHIP…and they dont get you enough SO or saves

pick any of the 2:
billingsley
reyes
marquis
escobar

that’s not too bad…although my whole pitching staff is based on people with a lot of potential that didnt have a name for themselves last yr

Yeah relievers don’t do much for me either.

i’d take reyes and escobar…keep billingsley on the watch list…forget marquis, 1 Win at the cost of a crappy ERA/WHIP isn’t worth it.

what some people do is obtain 4 strong SPs and then fill the rest up with RPs…you only need 7 innings or so to qualify for pitching…the relievers end up lowering ERA/WHIP…some one like juan rincon can pick up wins as well

i can easily pick up top relievers like macdougal, proctor, linebrook, etc…they dont help your team win categories each week unless they pitch at least 5 inn a week.

I know what you mean there, chrisc.
