FASFA Correction Question

I resubmitted my FASFA with 1 correction changing my status to “Off-Campus” housing. Will submitting this correction effect the amount that I may be eligible for? I submitted the FASFA months ago and I have a fear of being at the back of the line again for making this crucial change in my form.

Any thoughts?

edit-Im an independent if that matters related to my question in any way.

You should call the college. While it may (or may not) be cause for an adjustment in your award, it should not put you “at the back of the line.”

Depends on the school, but most schools use the initial filing date to determine whether you’ve met the priority deadline. A few people have posted that the schools dropped that due to a subsequent post-deadline but pre-award update, but I think those were private schools. You have received your FA awards already, right? If so, they shouldn’t be affected by a housing change.

For Fall, I don’t even have the Accept/Decline financial awards show up until July 16 (according to my oh-so-friendly financial office). I always file super early for obvious reasons.
